Ladybugs Of Late Summer.

Interestingly, I rarely see Ladybugs during the height of the summer. Only a single one here and there. However, they are apparent in large numbers in the early spring and late summer.

When I was at the beach a couple of weeks ago, in the afternoons, the amount of these cute insects was almost overwhelming. They descended into the waterfront, gathering on washed up seaweed, as if preparing for a trip. Likewise, they now collect and enjoy the sunny spots all over my terrace. In some way this sadly signifies the fact, that the days are getting shorter and that autumn is preparing for its grand entrance.
Lady Summer will try to hold on as long as She can, and some Indian Summer is still in store for us.
But Lady Autumn is getting closer by each day.

Ive always been very much creeped out by anything bugs.. but lady bugs are always pleasant to see. I remember our old neighbor referring to them as her garden fairies because they keep her plants healthy. :-)

Lady bugs are so cute! ;-) As a kid I was terrified of bugs, but I always loved the ladybugs. I am going to miss the summer, but I love the autumn weather. I just wished the days wouldn't get shorter. ;-(

Hope you have a wonderful day.

I have always been enamored of lady bugs. They are just cute! I've always thought they were one of the original bugs - before we sinned and had to have nasty, biting things!

One summer my parents had a huge amount of them! There were thousands of them (literally) on the side of their house, looking like a great big stain. They came inside, too, and they made the mistake of feeding them...then they had no reason to leave! tee-hee!

I some how do not like to see those around me.. looking at them in pictures are ok with me though.
But one of them have quite a decent modeling and ramp walk in front of camera... lol

I saw a ladybug two weeks ago in my garden. But that was that, and it was the first one in a very long, LONG time. So sad, now that I think about it. Where have the ladybugs in Guatemala gone?! So nice that there are some on your side. Lucky!

One of the people who reads my blog is totally grossed out by ladybugs. I think that's so funny. I can't imagine them bothering anyone!!

=Valentine,
your neighbor was right; they do keep the plants healthy, particularly the roses.;)) So glad to see you again;))
xoxo

=Joanne,
thank you so much, glad you like the collage.;)) Always love your visits.;))
xo

=Shelly,
I agree with you on the autumn and the fact that summers are so short. I myself am not a bug lover in no means, in fact insects are to me quiet scary, especially spiders. But I love Ladybugs and Bumblebees.;))xo

=Rosezilla,
yes, like mosquitoes.;) I hate those little menacing creatures, the are no good for anything.;)) Glad you stopped by.;)) xo

=Betsy,
wow, that must been some sight. I think I would have been a bit scared seeing so many at once and in no way would I enjoy having so many inside.;) I better not feed them then.;)) xo

=Sumandebray,
maybe they enjoyed being taken pictures off.;)) Vain Ladybugs.;)) Hehe. I do not mind these cute and harmless bugs, as thy are small, but I hate most of other insects. The other day I saw a big devil's coach horse beetle and they are very unpleasant and scary.

=Claudia,
maybe it is just to wet and to cold for them right now? I am sure they will come back. Do you have exactly this kind as well? I thought that the red and black ones only lived in temperate climate.;))
Always enjoy your visits.;)xo

=Diane,
that is so funny! They are cute and small and harmless, but I guess we all have our own phobias.;))
xoxo

=Jill,
yes, they are sweet and I am not a bug lover either. Except for Bumblebees and Ladybugs, all other insects did not have to exist. Or at least only exist OUTSIDE. I have so many bugs creeping into the house at all times, like big nasty spiders, I so dislike those.;))

=Lions...,
welcome and thank you for your visit.;)) Glad you enjoy these little sweet bugs as well.;))

=rhaindropz,
thank you and thank you for stopping by.;))

Because you're a dear friend, and I like you a lot, I'm going to pretend that you never said that "A" word and continue on with my in-denial summer, which will never end.

Indeed it is - but we have these lovely little creatures to keep us company for a while yet - I have masses in my garden too!

Love those ladybugs...some are boys tho, I am sure! :)

=Hilary,
hehe, and I love you back.;)) But the "A" is coming, I am sorry but it is.;)) At least here it is. You should be glad you were not here listening to the radio in the morning with me; they had an add for a Christmas Party on!!! Now, I can talk about "A" but I draw a line at "W".;)) That made me upset, to tell you the truth.;))
xo

=Jeanne,
yes, glad you too share the presence of these little sweet bugs.;)) Hope you are having a great stay in the city for now though.;)) xo

=Julie,
Gentlemanbugs.;)) Hehe, I like it!;)) xo

I love ladybugs too. I always think of the rhyme we sang as children about them. I was admiring one recently on the back of my hand when my husband said "you know they can bite." I've never ever been bitten by one. Maybe they CAN bit are too nice. : )

Zuzana said...

=Beverly,
yes, they can bite, but very mildly. I was surprised too when it happened. But again it happens only occasionally and leaves no mark, therefore they are completely forgiven.;)) xo
