Violet Dawn.

Finding myself - yet again- widely awake yesterday at the crack of dawn, as the birds welcomed the daylight, I decided not to go back to sleep. Instead I left the comforts of my warm bed in order to enjoy an extended, laid back morning, turning my dismay into a lovely, simple pleasure.
As I opened my bedroom window, these images of an extraordinary reward met my gaze.

The sky was painted in every shade of violet and purple, fading into cranberry red just above the horizon, where a round, fiery sun was rising. A rare sight indeed.

Sunset views are common at this time of the year, even though they never seize to amaze me. Every time I see one, I stand in awe. Getting a glimpse of a sunrise is though extraordinary.
Why? In winter and late autumn sun lies ever so low over the horizon, barely visible. In spring and summer, it rises early in the morning, while I am sound asleep.

Thus my recent insomnia was a blessing in disguise. I was gifted with a view of a violet dawn.

Isn't it grand to bask in these special moments. Isn't Spring just wonderful! I love hearing the birdies in the am and happy to receive their wake up call instead of my alarm clock. :D

As with the Yin and Yang of life the only negative side of Spring is the heavy dust pollen on my car and the allergies that come with them!! :(

I may have to forefit a morning sleep in and capture a sunrise
of my own. Have a great weekend!

Attagirl! I've learned that there's usually a good reason for these odd awakenings.. unless it's just become habit. An usually bird to see.. a mysterious fog to enjoy. You found your beautiful reason when you drew back the curtains. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous gifted morning.

I think you must have one of the most beautiful views of the sky right there in your part of the world. Someone needs to write a book on the topic. It should be filled with photographs and explanations to describe each part of the global sky.

These pictures are stunning!

I'm sorry you couldn't get back to sleep but I'm glad you were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise! I'm not usually up early enough to catch the sunrise but on the few occasions when I've been lucky enough to catch it, it's never been as beautiful as this.

I'm sorry, my dawn does not crack. My dawns are limp, flacid affairs that just slowly evolve until finally bursting forth as a really nice evening.

What a majestic sight.Over here when the sky rises it's always been against the blue sky, sometimes cloudy but never like those beautiful purple colours. Thanks for droppin by lately. Have a great weekend.

Zuzana:

Th colour of the picture collage is so warm and serene. I wonder what thoughts were going on in your mind while you you were looking at that violet dawn.

As I always remark, landscape is part of you dear Zuzana. I wonder if all your 'place' posts were compiled, it would be a lovely picture book of your region. Why don't you do that sometime.

Joy always,
Susan

I always love it when you decide to share your sky photos--these are spectacular. And, do I see the beginnings of leaves in silhouette on that willow tree?
This morning, I , too, woke early, just before the first bird sang and got out of bed and was making coffee to the sounds of the dawn chorus outside my window. No colorful sky this morning here, tho--it's very foggy.

Elizabeth, C, Kat, Brian, Margie, Denise, BPG, Lulda, Sukanya, Hilary, Evi, Claudia, tony, Kath, Stevie, Keera, Rajesh, Loli, sprinkles, Cosmo, Mahmud, V, Cheryl, LadyCat, Susan, Tina and Nessa – you are always so generous when you compliment my photography. I only have a simple camera, (point and shoot) and thus it is nature itself that is the true artist behind every piece I post.

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to stop by, your kind words are always very appreciated.
