Flashback Friday: "Sugar Baby Love".

Today I will share with you my favourite candy music. Or feel good music if you will. Just like we turn to chocolate and comfort food for pleasure from time to time, likewise I do have a few compilations on standby to savour when I feel like something sugar sweet. If I could taste sound, this one would taste as sweet as cotton candy.

And the title of course fits the sentiment very well - "Sugar Baby Love" was the debut single of The Rubettes. Released in 1974, it was the bands one and only number one UK single, spending four weeks at the top of the chart in May 1974.
I was only a baby myself then, still the harmonies sound so very familiar. If it should be bubble gum pop, then this is my pick.
Happy Friday everyone.

I don't know why I've never heard of the Rubettes...I'm certainly old enough :-) Great beat to their music! I am a huge ABBA fan, though. I agree with Brian...nice flashback!

Have a great weekend Zuzana.

I think this is a "snappy" song, a term I once heard in the movie "The Wonders" with Tom Hanks. Ever seen that one? Happy, feel-good music indeed this piece you share is Zuzana!
have a great Friday!!

I remember listening to this song when it was new - on Radio Luxembourg. I can still hear it the way it sounded on my tiny little transistor radio with some static in the music if the weather wasn't cooperating.

Sometimes when I listen to The Rubettes, I am surprised that they got so little attention later on. They were a brilliant band.

Thanks for the candy!

could not listen to the song as my phone did not let me do that.

Your description of "bubblegum" music is so apt for this Zuzana. I remember it being played on the radio. So nice to see an old 45 record!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Oh Bless you, you must have been in the pram when I was a teenager, as I was a grumpy teenager when this came out!

Fun memories. I still prefer old music to new.
Thanks for the good wishes.

The Rubettes are also new to me. How great that a You Tube video can rekindle the nostalgia.

I've never heard of this song or the band. While this isn't really my style of music, it was kind of fun! I really enjoy your Flashback Friday's and discovering new music. Well, new to me, anyways!
