Today I dedicate my Flashback Friday compilation to my sister for her birthday. Thus I am taking you way back to the mid eighties, when wild hair ruled the fashion and pleasant melodies the ether.
I decided to revisit the main theme song from a famous cinematographic masterpiece of a fairytale. Entitled "The NeverEnding Story", the main track with the same name is performed by Limahl. It received constant airplay in 1984, topping the charts all over Europe. Even today those pristine harmonies take me way back to my late teens, when my sister was my greatest confidant and my best friend. When everything was still new and fresh, magical and fairy-tale like and we were ready to conquer the world.
Happy Birthday to my little sister and Happy Friday to all of you.

Wish Your Sister A Happy Birthday From Me.Have A Fine Weekend Zuzana.
I don't remember this song but I have seen several versions of this movie. I think one tends to remember music of their teen years the most and I was a married working woman in the 1980s. The music I remember most is from the late 50s, 60s and 70s. In the 1980s my hubby introduced me to country music so we listened to that type of music more often during that decade.

A happy birthday to your lovely sister. She has a reason to celebrate this special day as she has crossed another milestone. Mt fondest wishes again.
Music from those times, is one the best. Nothing can beat it.
Joy always,
Susan
happy birthday little sis! i love that movie...not much for the sequel, but. need to show it to my boys...
Wishing you a grand weekend as well!! Cathy
That is INDEED a flashback. My kids LOVED that movie and the song is definitely one of the 80s classics.
I thought it was very odd, if not completely ironic, that there would be a Never Ending Story Part 2...and that it ended after that.
Have a GREAT weekend!
Hi Zuzana
Now that film really does take me back! I loved watching it when I was little. It was the first film I remember crying at (when the horse disappeared into the swamp), but everything seemed brighter and breezier in the 80s, so of course it all turned out OK in the end!
Happy birthday to your sister, and have a great weekend!

I'm joining with you in sending your sister birthday wishes today. I hope you are able to have a long talk with each other and a wonderful day.
This was my sons favourite book when he was little. I kept it, along with several others, for the wonderful illustrations. Have a lovely weekend!
Happy Birthday to your sister!! I wish her well....
I remember that movie from my childhood. It has always been one of my favorites.
Oh, forgot to say....I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Birthday Zuzana's little sister.
We all know I love fantasy stories. That song is so hopeful.
Happy Birthday to your sister and Happy Friday to you!
I remember watching the movie when young. It's a song that just doesn't leave you once hearing it. The moment I read the title of the post, I started humming the tune:)
I was 8 in 1984 (was turning 9 at the end of that year), and at such young and innocent age, I had my first love crush: Atreyu from the Neverending Story movie!!! :-o I felt butterflies everytime I heard the song back then, as it reminded me of him :-) I'm smiling while writing this, as it brings back such wonderful memories.
Happy Birthday to your sister!!
and have a lovely day :-)
*hugs*
I wonder just what I was doing through most of the 80s because they sure seemed to have passed me by.
Happy Birthday to your sister. :)
I love this song! I also remember the movie and that it got a lot of criticism, in part because it told only part of the story. I recommend reading the whole book; Michael Ende told a fantastic story.
Happy birthday to your sis!
Happy, happy Birthday to your precious sister my dearest Zuzana! Such a fun memory :-) Sisters are the best right?
Enjoy your weekend, cheers: Evi
Happy Birthday to your sister!
I remember this movie! It played endlessly on cable tv and I really enjoyed it.
That was a lovely song Zuzana. Convey my birthday wishes to your lil sister :)
You have a happy weekend !! :)
Cheers,
Sukanya
Zuzana, I have no recollection of this song, but the Neverending Story movie stuck in my head for all these years. I got the video for my niece and it was totally different than I remembered! Maybe there were others-Or maybe this old brain is more forgetful than I think! Have a great weekend & Happy Birthday to your sis!
Sherry
OH, I so totally remember this movie!!!
I seem to have developed tendonitis or some kind of over use injury in my left wrist and hand...making typing painful for me...so I might not be blogging as much for a while... this includes commenting on your amazingly inspiring blog-and this is soooooo hard for me. (this is kind of a form message I've typed and am copying and pasting at all my favorite blog hangouts. Sorry it must seem completely random in relation to your post) I can still read your posts- I will be present to you in a quiet way-reading and viewing your words and images, and leaving a simple ☺
to let you know I have dropped by and am thinking about you.
Gentle steps,
Laura

Thanks for this! The NeverEnding Story is a classic in our family--must be watched every so often. My son loved the book, too, although I have not read it! C

Ha... It took five seconds, and then the "Oooooh yeah! That song!" moment hit. Thanks for the express ticket to time travel! Cheers.
