I love the Sun. That big, glowing disc in the sky, which we most of the time just take for granted. It is always there, even if it is covered by clouds and even if it shines only for a few hours a day. It's vital rays can seem to be absent for a period of time and feel very weak. It can on the other hand bake down on us relentlessly on other occasions. It might be unpleasant at times; too strong and penetrating, while at other times we welcome its warm shine and the feeling of revival it brings, after the long winter. Especially this far up north.
The word sun and its imagery has inspired songs and poets in many languages and cultures. The golden celestial object has been worshiped for centuries and considered divine; as indeed man has known since ancient times that sun equals life.
To me sun has always been a sign of comfort. It might sound strange, but knowing it is always there can ease my troubled mind. If I feel unhappy or sad, the sunshine improves my mood almost instantly. Watching the sunsets or sunrises from my windows is therapy that can not be described. And to feel its warmth on my face is a source of pleasure and happiness at all times.
"Here comes the sun" is a sentence I like to repeat in my mind, when grave subjects weigh heavy on my heart and soul.
I am wishing you all a sunny Monday!

I'm a sun-lover myself and look forward to summer like no other season. You capture some of the most beautiful sunrises and sets of anyone I know - and all from your own window. How wonderful is that!
Love that song...I'll be singing it all day now! You really have a wonderful view of the sky from your windows...moon or sun...
I adore your new blogground, Z, and your sun imagery is wonderful. I burn in the sun, but I covet always its light and its warmth radiating all around me - It has a real feelgood factor, non?! It's turned out lovely once again around on your blog! x
I remember the sun :). I don't think we're meant to see it for a few more days. Know what I am seeing, though? Water. In the basement. Seeping through the walls. Lovely!
OH! What a wonderful song to start the week with...I often LONG for the sun during cloudy days...it lifts the spirit and provides such hope!!
Thank you for the good wishes for our dear Emma!
Have a wonderful Monday!
Jill
I am totally with you on this one! The sun never ceases to amaze me, and the Beatles on top of hat, aaaah!
:-)
Oh, yes, I love the sun. Used to be tanned as could be, and I'm blessed to live in Florida, but now there are medications that make me burn and get sick in too much sun, alas! But we've been going to the beach at sunset and that is perfection!
I love the sun too! Can't live without it. I find it changes my mood instantly if I'm feeling down. I painted the word "bramasole" on the back porch which means "to yearn for sun", I also painted a sunshine and vines up along the ceiling.
Great song.
Hugs, and have a sunny day!
Donna
I really love that song! I always have. I was feeling sorry for you yesterday with the rain, but I guess that it just makes you appreciate your beautiful sunny days all the more. I picture you and batcat both sitting by the window soaking it all in. ;);)
Hey Z,...when is your birthday??
When I wake up and the sun is shining, I can't help but dance out of the bedroom singing, "Good day sunshine, good day sunshine!"
That's about all I know but it's very effective. Though my dogs are not crazy about the singing.
I've read your bio and I'm pretty impressed...Warm greetings from a Hungarian girl, who living with a Norwegian man in China...:-) Love: Evi
=Hilary,
thank you for commenting on the sunsets; I am happy I can share them with the world, as they are so beautiful and they play out almost every evening in spring and summer, if the weathers is good. Even though I have lived in the house now for 6 years, they still leave me breathless and reinforce the fact that nature is magical.
Thank you for your kind words, my friend.;)
=Betsy,
I hope it is a good song to have stuck in the head.;) Yes, I fully enjoy my view - thank you.;)
=Fhina,
you have the most amazing way with words, I ma sure you have been told this before.;) I am very glad you enjoy your visits here, I love when you stop by.;)) xo
=Diane,
we have rain now here too, it rained the whole night and it is raining today as well, but that is the Scandinavian spring, I am afraid. As long as it will a sunny weekend, I am fine.;) Sorry about water seeping through, I hope it will not be too bad.
=Jill,
glad you liked the song.;)) Emma is such a cutie, hope you all had a great day celebrating your little girl.;)) Thank you so much for you kind words.;)
=swenglishexpat,
happy to hear that you are on the same frequency; but I guess we, the Scandinavians, adore the sun.;) Yes, I love George Harrison's voice, glad you do too.;))
=Rosezilla,
I totally love being in the sun and I do tan well too.;) I am a bit worried though as I can see my skin is getting wrinkled now when I am getting older, so I try to find a balance of having a tan but not being out in the sun too much. However, it is difficult.;)
Glad you can enjoy the lovely warm Florida climate.;)
=Donna,
Bramasole reminds me of a great movie, starring Diane Lane, called "Under the Tuscan Sun", it is based on Frances Mayes's 1996 memoir of the same name. I am sure you know of it, about a woman traveling to Italy and purchasing "Bramasole" residence. One of my favorite movies to date.;)
Many hugs back;)
=Holly,
you are so kind; yes the rain on Sunday was not so bad, however it is raining today as well (Tuesday) and that is a bit worse.;)
I am a summer child Holly (what else for a sun worshiper;), my birthday is on 5th of July; in the States everyone always said the 4th of July fireworks were to celebrate me.;)
Always love when you stop by my dear friend.;)) xo
=Pyzahn,
that are some great lines to welcome a new day; I love when the mornings are sunny.;) It makes it so much easier to get up.;)) Hope your Tuesday morning will be sunny and happy as well, thank you so much for stopping by.;))
=Miss Eve,
welcome and thank you for those kind words; living in eastern Slovakia as a child I am very familiar with some of the Hungarian culture that was obvious in my surroundings as well.;) Thank you so much for stopping by, please come back again.;)
Sun is a source of energy and creation. But if it shines too hot in summers as in north India, it is difficult to face it. Wish you a lukewarm sunny morning!
I love the sun as well. I work better with it. I'm in a better mood with it. Without it, life it's not the same. That's why summer is my favorite time of year. If I had a tattoo I think it would be that of a sun, because it's really important in my life, even though it causes me skin allergies :-(
Love the song!, though strangely enough, it's an Autumn-ish tune for me. I'm almost positive it's part of a movie I usually see around September/October.
=Sukh Dev,
I can imagine that sometimes the sun is relentless and it can be a burden to be in its constant heat. Here we have so little of it most of the time, that to us it is a source of constant pleasure.;) Thank you for your kind comment.;)
=Claus,
glad you share my love for the sun.;) Sorry that summer is ending in your part of the world, I am hoping you will be able to find joy in our summer nevertheless.;)
Yep...I love the sun-just lying like a lizard in it's warmth, all drowsy and content.
Of course, if we don't want our skin to LOOK like a lizard's, it is best to remeber the sunscreen, though.
=Tina,
I love the sun and just like you I am always conflicted between its benefits and damage.
Growing up, we always traveled south in the summer to beaches and literally fried ourselves in the sun.
Today I still long to do that, but I am also aware of how dangerous it is, therefore I have to consciously hold myself back at all times.;)). As you say, we do not want to look like lizards.;)
