I am sitting outside while I type today's blog post and again this makes me marvel over the modern technology.
Today is what we might call a typical late spring day here in Scandinavia; westerly wind, blue skies filled with occasionally fluffy white clouds, which however bring chills if they cover the sun.
Today is also my nephews birthday, he will be seven years old. I recall it as it was yesterday when I boarded the train to take me to Switzerland in order to be there for my sister, when she was about to welcome the first grandchild of the family to the world.
He was born in late May, which is also the season of the blooming rhododendrons. These magnificent bushes explode with flowers almost over night. I am lucky to have a beautiful plant just outside my kitchen windows. During late May, every morning it offers me a view bursting with purple colours.

The colors are so vibrant...especially against that fabulous GREEN!!
Hope your weekend is amazing!!! Happy birthday to your nephew!!
I think May is such a great month to celebrate a birthday :-)
Your blooming rhododendrons are , as Julie said it already, gorgeous!(and I like the artistic views of them from above through the window).
The Rhododendrons are begiining to bloom here, too(I have some enormous bushes in my yard--same color blooms as yours)
I NEED to catch up with your blogs and hope to do so in the next few days. Sorry I haven't been around.
I used to wear the liquid foundation but it felt so heavy and cake-y, once I made the change to powder, I have yet to go back. Sometimes I'll still touch up with liquid in some spots before adding on the powder, though. What do you use? :)
Happy weekend, gorgeous Protege!

It gets to hot and dry for Rhododendrons to thrive here. My next door neighbor used to have a couple on the dark damp side of her house though. They do grow beautifully in the Smokie Mountains. Did you ever fo there when you lived in North Carolina?
I really didn't have to stay at work long. I ran some errands afterwards and then stopped to visit with my parents for a while.
What a huge rhododendron! I love that view with the beautiful brick walkway.
Those photos are honest to goodness absolutely breath-taking!! You are a gifted photographer as well.
Happy Birthday to your nephew!
great images- we are heading into winter here, so the colour is lovely to see
=Julie,
thank you so much; and thank you for the birthday wishes; it is good month to be born in, right?;)
=Tina,
thank you, I wish I could see what your rhododendrons look like; can't you post a picture?
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend; pls do not feel pressure to be here all the time, I know how busy real life can be sometimes.;)) I am so happy that you even find the time to stop by once in a while.;)xo
=Erika,
I used to wear powder when i was younger, but already in my late twenties I started with foundation and that is what I wear today. My favorite is from an online store, very nature friendly, without too much artificial additives.;))
Likewise hope your weekend is great.;)) xo
=steviewren,
yes I managed to visit Smokie Mountains once in the autumn, when the foliage was changing. It was truly beautiful there. But I never visited the place when the rhododendrons bloomed, what a shame.
Thank you for always finding the time to stop by and leave such a nice comments.;))
=Betsy,

I will TRY to get some Rhode Island Rhododendron photos for you(can't now, as it is raining out), but for now, you could check out a blog entry of mine from last year at about the same time, when I had a slideshow up of my garden--I think there were one or two shots of the rhodo. bushes.
