Our landscape is covered in heavy snow blanket for the seventh executive week. This is very rare and we are most likely heading towards the coldest winter on record. This year the weather seems to have been dramatically altered across the globe. Greenland is experiencing the warmest winter on record, parts of Canada are lacking snow, while we here in Europe are in deep freeze.
With spring nowhere in sight for weeks to come, I need to relish in the beauty of the snow. And it is easy actually. My irritation level is mainly raised right after the heavy snow fall, just before the roads are cleared. As soon as I can again drive my car safely, I find the snow covered landscape pleasing to the eye, making the days last longer and feel lighter.
Today I noticed all the shapes in the snow. The geometrical, clean patterns, straight lines or random formations, that the cover creates. Together with small imprints left behind by animals and humans, they are a subtle reminders of life, and a proof of movement, in such a contrast to the tranquility and stillness of the snow itself.

Oh I love these snow shapes dearest Zuzana! You always find the loveliest details around :-)
Hope you having a wonderful weekend, cheers: Evi
very coooooool post! :-)
yep, if we just open our eyes and look at things differently, we can see the beauty and blessings.
have fun with our snow this year.
Do I spy little kitty-feet in the snow :)
very cool shapes...sitting here looking out the window at a very large pine...looks like the snow has been spray painted on...
I love all the prints in the snow you have pictured here. They give such texture to the smooth whiteness of the snow. We had a good snow last night and everything is sugar coated here too. It was a heavy, wet snow, so the poor trees are weighted down, but they look beautiful. Have a great Saturday, Zuzana!
Your pictures are sooo lovely. We had light snow, but there was was very heavy for the branches of the evergreens are bowed down. Oh! I wish for a camera that works!!! Thank you! CAthy
Dear Zuzana
I know you are having a bitter and cold winter there!
It's been very mild here.
But, isn't the snow just magnificent!
I love the snow!
And just look at all those beautiful shapes in the snow!
Beautiful!
Thank you for sharing those awesome pictures!
I'm off to take a walk in the snow with Jake, my golden!
Stay warm and have a wonderful weekend!
Margie:)

Dear Zuzana:
What an eye for detail! In spite of getting irritated, you have paused to notice the shapes and sizes.
Great Sunday ahead dear one.
Joy always,
Susan
I live in one of those parts of Canada that is lacking in snow this winter.
I agree with you that snow can be beautiful. However, I am unselfish enough to not be jealous that you get to enjoy its beauty this year instead of us.
Love your snow shapes! Thanks for sharing:)
What a winter it's been in Europe and the US. Here in inland India we've been getting that awful dry cold, but no worse than any other year. I love the look of your blog this season. It's so nice to be back again after a long spell. Lovely to read your thoughts and see your pictures, Zuzana

You always see the beauty in everything! I wish I was more like you in that respect.
These are some wonderful pictures, as always! Are those Batcat's footprints I see?
I really hope your snow melts soon. I woke up to heavy frost on the ground which will be gone soon. I really have nothing to complain about when I compare it to your weather.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Please come visit me in California if you EVER get tired of the snow! It's 70 degrees again today!
We got almost 20 inches today.

There is magic in snow falls, whether a mere dusting or a storm. I no longer see them here in Arizona! :)
Our snow is just a memory now Zuzana so your lovely snow photos look almost surreal. Snow is wonderful for children of course and indeed for the child in all of us. There is something almost magical about it and it can conjure up happy memories. But why does it have to be so cold. Brrr...
we're close to summer now. i hate it.
love those snow print photo.
have a great day Zuzana
snow really is so beautiful! i don't live in it, so i can especially appreciate it. i have a book with detail photos of snowflakes...just incredible.
xoxo alison
You are very observant and have captured quite the variety, too!
We're close to summer now, but most of the people here are still freezing. But I can't bear it without the fan on!
I love the first heavy snow when everything is uniformly covered with a blanket of white. At night sounds are muffled and there's a certain peacefulness.

By the way I viewed your last two comment sections and it looks like you're getting hit by a SPAMER. It may be time to tighten up on the anonymous settings.
Your pictures have capture the wonderment of winter. So many times you have but a few minutes to catch the shapes less you turn you head and they're gone. Thanks for capturing the shapes of snow in the far away land of Denmark.
How neat! :) The Bach
It is interesting the things you notice when you think outside the box.
I think this winter has had more snow and colder weather here in the states than usual. It is funny how dramatically the weather pattern has altered itself this year. I guess that is what makes it still hard to predict precisely. It's changeability.
I love the patterns and little splashes of colour. What is the blue in the last image? Those stairs are wonderful, all snow-covered like that. I'm perplexed by the dark items there too. I'm really nosy, eh? ;)
I love all the shapes in the snow. Only thing...when I look at the pictures it makes me cold! hehe
We still have a cold weather here, but nothing like what you are experiencing. We do actually see some sunshine even though the wind is blowing like crazy make it feel colder than it is. =)
I hope your having a good weekend. Stay warm.
xoxo, Shelly
How cool to notice these shapes in the snow! Love the cat prints. :-)
Hi Zuzana
It is indeed an odd winter. Here I see bare patches of earth boldly peeking through the snow in the woods behind my house...not at all normal for February in New Hampshire, USA! I love the shapes you have found. Snow can really help us see things in a new way. Stay cozy.
Beautiful photos and beautiful perspective. I'm enjoying your new blog look. Well done!
We have zero temps and more snow to come later this week. Won't see the ground for weeks and weeks. I always tell myself that the blessing of the snow is that my kitchen floor stays clean because the dogs' paws aren't picking up dirt or mud☺
You have such a clever eye for photographs! Lovely shapes covered in snow. It's been all sorts of weather in Guatemala: cold and windy in the mornings, very hot at noon and early in the afternoons, and rain at night! there's an expression in Spanish here in Guatemala: Febrero es loco = February is crazy. They are right! and weather is indeed, crazy everywhere.
Stay warm my friend!
