Random Thoughts.

Apparently I have been missed. Someone noticed (and reminded me) that I neglected to write a post yesterday (thank you F!) Well, it is nice to know that I have not managed to bore - at least not some of you - to death just yet, with my very educational posts and my crazy ramblings.

The lack of posting on my part has been due to many things, but the main one being overwhelmed at work and trying to pay attention to my professional life a bit more than I have been lately. Furthermore, I seem to be lacking inspiration. I usually pre-schedule all my posts and even though I have plenty of posts written, they seem all to feel not right. A similar sensation, which at least women will recognize, to the feel of ones favorite clothes, which seems to fit perfectly one day, only to feel completely off the next.

Anyway, therefore I decided to try to do that which many bloggers do so eloquently. Present to you some random thoughts I have been having lately.

I have been thinking about my childhood. Particularly about those small achievements or milestones that it always seemed to be filled with. Such as loosing the first milk tooth, learning how to read and write, how to swim, how to bicycle. It is not very often in our adulthood that so much knowledge is acquired in such a short time. I also recall with a smile how I used to grow out of my clothes. Today it seems almost surreal. Do you remember not being able to fit your shirts and sweaters and trousers from one year to another? These days I can wear everything I wore a decade ago, with exception of some garments that will not fit around the waist and thighs, to my dismay.

I have also been thinking about my sister, who I miss dearly, as she lives with her family thousands of miles south of me. I can not remember the time when she was born, as I was barely 3 years old. But I have many fond memories from the time just few months later after her arrival. I recall with amusement lying in my crib, just behind hers, pulling at her jump suit leg and making her laugh, over and over. She was no more than six months old. I also remember how I wished for her to finally speak! I used to ask my mother constantly, inquiring when she will start talking back to me. I guess, already bossy at that time, I needed to communicate my orders to her and experienced great aggravation in not being able to do so. I also taught her the almost first word. It was a word naming an animal. A small, cute, wild animal. Other children will usually learn to say cat or dog initially. But not my sister. We had a book with different animal pictures in it and amusingly, the first name she learned and repeated proudly was Weasel. And believe me, it is even more difficult to pronounce in Slovak.

I remember the time I could first use the hula hoop. All the kids in the neighborhood had one...I think we were the last kids to get one on the block (My parents were of the opinion that just because the other kids got this doesn't mean their kids would.) My parents were so very frugal and did not rush out to buy TV's, new cars, new furniture, et. al. I lived in a patient wait-and-see household. So you can imagine how delighted and surprised we were to have one of our own.

I am reminded of this, too, because my grand daughter got one for her birthday last week and the memories flooded in!

Wonderful post!!! Wishing you a grand day! Cathy

Memories are the mental photographs we store for old age. They comfort us when the days get shorter. That’s why I say; “Make as many memories as you can, you only live once.”

That's why I write every two days! ...and some times more days in between :-) There are times when topics simply flow, hopefully of interest both for the author and the readers. But there are times when one simply has no idea what to share. You, however, dear Zuzana, always manage to catch everyone's attention with your clever entries! so, no matter what you write about, be sure there are plenty of readers, and plenty of interest in you and your blog :-)

I found myself thinking about my childhood and my first memories I have of my brother. Funny what one remembers, and what escapes. I don't remember him as a baby at all! I do remember taking him to his first year of preschool, and how worried I was about him. I guess I've been protective of my family from early age. How curious! See? it's always fun to come around!

Good luck at work! and have a great day!...weekend is around the corner! :-)
*hugs*

Yes, I missed you too yesterday! I know the need to take time to attend to other matters. Life is one thing after another... but I'm happy to be along for the ride.

Such a sweet picture of you two little girls, and such lovely memories of her.

I hope work things sort themselves out soon. Lately, I've had problems with inspiration as well. I'm blaming it on the lack of sunlight. : )

Love reading random thoughts! Off the top of my head I can't think of any firsts except the first time I was allowed to ride by bicycle in the street. That was a big deal to me.

I must confess that I didn't notice you didn't post yesterday. I was a little behind and am working on catching up on all my favorite blogs today.

It's good to take a break now and again though!

I try not to look back on my childhood very often as I don't have very good memories for the most part. I have 2 older brothers that I'm not close to and will likely never see again. So I enjoyed reading your random thoughts and your happy childhood memories! :)

Great post! I can relate to you in so many ways from your random thoughts. One of the things the that made me smile and sad a little was the story about your sister. I miss my sister so much, too! She only lives 600 miles from me, but it seems so much farther.

She is my only sibling and the greatest sister ever. She is 4 years younger than me and I remember being the bossy one when we were younger. =) She reminds me all the time.

Have a good rest of the week.

xoxo, Shelly

Dear Zuzana, I will never be bored with your posts for one thing and yes we did miss you!
I understand completely about the pressures of work.
In any case it's good to have some random thoughts once in a while and the story of you and your sister is delightful.

Thank you for your lovely words on my recent post.

What wonderful memories from the crib! I'm sorry your sister is so far away. My four brothers and I are evenly spread between New York and Vancouver so getting together can't happen real often but we are looking forward to a long weekend together this July. I hope you get to see your sister soon too!

You have a vivid memory, Zuzanna! I have no recollection about my interaction with my 2 younger brothers. The only thing I remember was that my younger brother was better in climbing our banana tree (and more daring too).

Such a clear memory of you wanting your sister to talk! (and now I will have to Babelfish "weasel" in Slovak after I leave here, you know)
My earliest memory is of my sister and I being frightened by the dog tied up in the backyard of the apartment house we lived in, and also leaving the house alone and walking into an Kindergarten until my father came and found me(I was three then)
Incidentally,
I have been busy with offline life all this week and unable to blog, and ALSO quite sick of all my clothes this week.

What a wonderful (almost) first word! I wish mine had been "weasel". You are a rarity, Zuzana; a precious rarity.

Now. Can we see the translation of wesel, please?

What an adorable photo of you and your sister. Such wonderful memories...and weasel...that is precious AND clever!

I too have struggled with blogging inspiration lately. Maybe it is the time of year...lots of work...who knows! Certainly spring will inspire us all and I will look forward to glimpses of your garden when the sun begins to shine.

Catanya, tony, Cathy, Brian, maja, Joanne, Scribe816 (or F;))), Claudia, Keats (welcome!), Phillip, BPG, Margie, Stevie, LadyCat, sprinkles, Danielle, Nessa, The Bach, Shelly, Jeanne, Mark, Donna, Blogaire, Rajesh, Hilary, Denise, Radka, jeannette, Tina, Kat, Susan and Jill – thank you so much for all your very kind comments, recollecting your own childhood memories. I also enjoyed greatly reading your kind words in regards to the stories of my sister and me and the picture I posted.

To those of you who wondered about the “Weasel” word in Slovak, it is very much similar to Polish one that maja mentioned in her comment:
Lasica

Thank you all so much for stopping by, I enjoy and cherish all you visits.

Always.
