Significant Sunset.

This past Saturday evening, a significant event could be observed outside my windows.
A true return of the sun.
Once again, for months to come, bright sunny days will end with spectacular light shows, offering views of painted sky and fiery sunsets.

The month of March means that the sun is truly back. I can not stress often enough how much this means to the Scandinavians. Setting now almost four hours later then during the winter solstice, the sun is visibly changing everything around us. The sunsets are no longer fragile and short, but powerful and extended. This comeback is at all times a cause for celebration.

I made my own tribute to commemorate the return of the golden disk by documenting its first visible setting in pictures. It might be of interest to mention that the first picture is taken at 05:44PM while the last at 07:05PM, clearly underscoring the fact, that the time from sun to dark is already in spring largely extended.

Hi Zuzana,
These are beautiful shots! We had a lovely sunset the other night and I tried to take a photo but it just didn't capture the glow of red, yellow and blue. Maybe I couldn't live where you do because I don't even like it here from Nov. through Jan when it is dark so early. If we didn't have the holidays I couldn't stand it. Yesterday was beautiful here - sunny and 67 degrees F. and we still have some snow piles left on the ground. I even heard a bird singing yesterday! It was so nice out I went out on the screened-in porch and wiped down all the furniture and swept the floor. It's nice and clean now. I'm ready for spring.

Congratulations, you have survived the dark. Hopefully your spring really is just around the corner. In the meantime, I am happy to share mine.
I like the picture from your window at the top best.

These are lovely photos. You should enlarge them and put them up on your wall during the dark winters to remind yourself that this is only a season.

These are wonderful Zuzana - you are truly a Sun-Goddess. Sunsets and Sunrises are always special moments. They probably remind us of the hugely important part the Sun plays in our very existance.
Hope you have a nice sunny rest of the week!

That is fascinating that your sunset lasts for 2 hours. I looked online our sunset today will be about 5:50. And it will be done by 6:15.

Dear Zuzana,

How I love the progression of the images and we are also able to see when the street lights are turned on.
Being able to witness natures beauty is something to few of us do, but then dreamers have no choice in the matter.

Wishing you all the very best,
Egmont

Beautiful sunsets! Glad your days are longer. We turn our clock ahead one hour this weeknd, so we will lose an hour. That means it will stay light later in the evening.
