Lilac is one of my favorite blooming shrubs. It holds so much significance in my perception, as its unique scent brings back so many happy memories.
The aroma regresses my childhood and most of all my teenage years, when the bouquet of the purple flowers would saturate the air, signaling the onset of summer - and in its turn, the carefree days of the approaching holidays.
Even today, every time I encounter a lilac shrub in bloom, I have to linger for a while, closing my eyes while I inhale that fresh fragrance of the flowering bunch, making me recollect and reminiscence, defying the laws of time.
Ultimately those brief moments remind me of that one single vital fact - the best in life is indeed free and locked into a few simple pleasures.
In no uncertain terms such was my recent encounter, finding this purple treasure blooming in scented abundance - in the same place where I found true love. Yet another symbol send by the universe, reassuring me that after all the detours and wrong turns I ever took in my past, I am at last traveling on the right path, moving in the right direction...

I Love The Idea Of Scent & Colour Evoking & Defying The Laws Of Time.Splendid Photos Zuzana.Have A Great Day!
My Mother had lilacs blooming in her garden. They mean much the same to me. Just the lightest scent takes me back.
I am not sure they grow where I live now, enjoy yours for me.

Gorgeous shots of them! So pretty!
We have 2 lilac bushes right outside our back door. They smell so good when we sit on the patio.
Your lilacs are so beautiful! Enjoy the wonderful memories that you are still making : )

Lilacs...the true smell of spring!
Lovely pictures! really gorgeous! <3
This post really touched me. I love lilacs--everything about them, but most of all the memories they evoke for me.
I love these pictures. I could almost smell them. May your life always be filled with the scent of lilac and true love.
I too, remember lilacs, from childhood. And I too, love their fragrance.
But since developing allergies, as I have aged, I can no longer sniff them. -sigh-
I hope your whole life will now continue to be as sweet, as the fragrance of a lilac bush!
~♥~
I love lilacs too and felt pretty much the same way when I moved into our house. We bought it in the winter but moved in in May to discover a lilac bush in full bloom in the back yard. It sure felt like home.
Beautiful! I love lilacs - they will be blooming in town in the next week or two!
Have a lovely day, Zuzana!

They look so beautiful Zuzana like the new profile picture you used! Hugs.
So love the lilac!
I have a lilac shrub in my front yard close to the window and one of my favorite parts of my morning, right now, as it's in full bloom, is taking in the beautiful scent!
I have some of the lilacs in a vase on my kitchen table, heavenly to me!
Gorgeous shots of your lilacs here!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Lilacs are without equal for their beautiful fragrance and their soft blossoms. I love them. Your photos are just perfect!
Spring and lilacs remind us to come out and breathe and live for as long as we can--and we don't know how long that is. Beautiful post, friend.
Yes so true. When you don;t have flowers around you , you still have memories of the scents from your past.
My Gramma had a yard full of lilacs every spring and it was so pleasant to visit her that time of year.
:)
My mom has a lilac tree in her backyard. I have to walk past it to get to her pond. When it's in bloom, I probably spend longer there than I do at the pond. I linger at the tree on the way to the pond and on the way back, just breathing in the beautiful scent!
I hope you have a wonderful four day weekend, Zuzana! You deserve it.
Beautiful flowers. Love the color.
I agree...lilacs are one of the best smelling flowers there is! And very distinct, too.
So lovely,stay happy !
Beautiful! I love Lilacs too :) I have two bushes in my yard secretly maturing year by year, seeming to ease and slowly adjust my husband's allergies into acceptance (if that makes any sense LOL!). Had I been able to plan a big and fancy wedding 11 years ago May 30th, instead of the quickly put together one which was perfect in and of itself, and had my husband not been so allergic to them, I would have had lilacs as my flower of choice. And even if I couldn't have the flowers themselves, the bridesmaid's dresses would have reflected their beautiful coloring. :) Maybe if we have a vow renewal someday, I will get them yet! Have a wonderful day Zuzanna! :)
Yep, I'm back in town. Love your post filled with lovely scents.
See you later.
What a delightful post and a trip down memory lane. I love lilacs but unforunately they do not grow well here in GA
Thank you for sharing
Johnina
I don't know if I've ever smelled a lilac in bloom. It must be too hot to grow them here.
I'm pleased to read that you are still so happy. Enjoy everyday!
What a wonderful world..... particularly when you are surrounded with such beautiful treat both for your eyes and nose
Ciao
it is interesting how a place, a scent or a view can bring us back to the past. It happened to me today when I drove to a school to use their facilities.
Maybe I should plant some lilac in my yard to bring in some new love ;)
Ahhhh, the sweet scent of lilacs. I could almost smell them...I know it is just the power of suggestion.
In Maine this time of year is sweetly called "lilactide." Isn't that perfect?
All joys to you,

I adore the memories that come with such a flower or fragrance Zuzana. Lilacs are so fragrant and not only fill the air just around them but large areas drawing us in don't they? I planted several baby lilacs...someday I hope they are as beautiful as your photographs!
zuzana - i am totally with you on lilacs - my favorite flower - it brings back such wonderful memories of childhood when my sisters, mother and i would harvest armloads of them - white, light purple, dark violet.....so lovely♡
Lilac is a beautiful colour, though i shall probably stay away from the flowers as i do in fact get hayfever. lol
They are a favorite of mine too Zuzana...we planted Lilacs beneath my parents bedroom window for Mother's day when we were children...and when my parents moved to a new home we did it again...they always make me think of my mother. We have a lovely bush in our front garden too...such a joy!
Lovely lilac shots. Your post reminds me of the wonderful time of year in our old home town, Malmö, when school was coming to an end, and we all went to "studentfest", the celebrating of successful exams, happy parties ahead of university studies the following autumn. We used to wander home in the early hours listening to the blackbirds and smelling the lilac fragrance. Aaaah!
My family have gorgeous, big, bushy lilac trees in this same color. It's such a treat when they are in bloom. Enjoy them while they last and that's for the beautiful photos. They remind me of home!
Happy weekend, jj
I want to plant lilacs in my yard and have been thinking about it a lot this year. love the aroma also. glad your life is going in a good direction you are happy with.
Gorgeous photos - and these are my favorite! We had such a terrible spring that I didn't get to enjoy them this year. It really made me sad because they only are around for about two weeks. Thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures!

The scent of this flower is simply unique and the way our memories and the cognitive processes are triggered by perfumes and smells is endlessly fascinating to me.
I use all my senses at all times, thus my recollections are easily brought back by not just scents, but sounds and textures as well.
Thank you as always for your kind words and wonderful visits that always warm my heart.
Xoxo
