May I Ask...

...what is inside your bathroom cabinets?
Some of you might remember my post where I inquired about your refrigerator. This time it is your bathroom I am curious about.

Well, let me tell you right from the start that even though my refrigerator seemed empty, my bathroom cabinets sure are not. They are well stocked. You name it, I have it.
Facial creams and lotions, body lotions - at least 5 different kinds, make-up (TONS and tons of it), nail polish, deodorants, perfumes, liquid soaps, shampoos, conditioners and several baskets and glass containers filled with many more objects within the area of personal hygiene, beauty and grooming.

The cabinets definitely house hundreds of items, which I seem to simply not be able to live without.  I am a collector and high maintenance and that is a lethal combination when it comes to the content of my bathroom.

I have heard, that everyone who visits someone and at one point excuse themselves to use the restroom, will peek into their host's bathroom cabinets. I have no idea if that is true, as I have actually never done it myself. Still this is an opportunity for me to find out what you are hiding.
If you are willing to disclose this to me, that is.

Anyone peeking in my bathroom will see hair care products, dental care products, skin care products, feminine hygiene products, bottles of ethereal oil, leftover bath oils, and a collection of hair brushes and nearly-empty jars of cream that get weeded out way too slowly. :-)

But that's as of this moment. I intend to do some weeding in my bathroom later. *fingers crossed*

There are too many products in my bathroom cabinets, Zuzana, and some past their use by dates.

I have four daughters and three still live at home. Our cabinets are full to overflowing.

Two daughters at home are blond, one a brunette - therefore colour treatments abound.

One daughter has fine hair, the other coarse. My hair's just plain old and dry. Between us all we have everything you need for a hair salon, and for all skin types. Oil free moisturizer, oil based moisturizer. Product to straighten hair and more of the same to enhance curls.

And far behind in the bowels of the cupboard we still have a lice removal comb from the days when my children suffered this affliction.

We have everything for women, but my husband keeps his stuff elsewhere, so the men would miss out here.

Just checked and I still have a bottle of aftershave that must be twenty years old at least. It still smells the same way it did back then. Probably dates to the last time I used aftershave. Horrible stuff. Made you stink and sting at the same time.

Zuzana, you cabinets sounds like an absolute treasure trove of goodies! I love hygiene and beauty products too.:) I have a dear friend who is the same and though this is a bit embarrassing, we used to go hang out at the drug stores on weekend nights and just admire the aisles and aisles of beauty products.:)

What is in my own cabinets however is quite mundane, lotions, perfume, nail polishes, etc.

How funny about people sneaking a peek in other people's cabinets!!:) I do that with my mom and sister but that's it! I swear!! :)

Have a lovely day lovely Zuzana!

I feel much better knowing that you, too, are a product "junkie".
;-)
My medicine cabinet above the sink can't even hold everything, and the cabinet below is an overflowing mess. I am ever addicted to nice-smelling and moisturizing body lotions and soaps. My daughter has her own growing supply(especially hair stuff) and my poor husband's grooming products barely have any space.
At least your stash of hair and skin products looks neater than mine. As you saw in the latest blog entry, I showed what I have stuck yo my bathroom mirror. I'll try to post soon what is behind the mirrored door, inspired by you.

Lotion, hairspray and deoderant. And more lotion. Every single flavor and scent and color of lotion.
I haven't peeked inside anyone's cabinet either. But, I did take the medicine cabinet out of my guest bathroom...just in case.

My bathroom cabinet is smallish, so I use drawers for my makeup. But these are the contents of my cabinet:

=all the perfume I own, which is a good bit.
=pain killers that have expired but still work when I need them.
=a couple of facial creams and an eye cream that I never use.
=toothpaste (I use a Sonicare that sits on my sink).
=a case containing an ill fitting partial that I never wear.
=an OTC sleep aid for my insommnia.
=a bottle of Melatonin for insommnia, which doesn't work all that well.
=a tiny container of some herbs that dissolve moles; and it works.

Okay Zuzana, it's clear to me I need to clean out my bathroom cabinet. Thanks hon!

This is fun Zuzana and I have to say that your photos of your cosmetics and toiletries are even pretty!

We have large cabinets in our bath and I have filled them with many things. I imagine I should clean them out at some point. I love to try new colors of makeup, nail polish and try new lotions and bath soaps. Since my little girls have gotten older they steal into my bath and "try on" many of my toiletries and I do not mind. I always seem to have earrings everywhere too...even in the cabinets. I love my earrings!

Hi Zuzana!
Mine is full of half used tubs of body lotion that I bought on a whim and then forgot about, it's also got shaving foam, razor blades, hairspray, fake tan and my one and only bottle of perfume 'Allure'.
It could probably do with a good clear out actually!
I'm extremely envious of your lipstick collection!

soaps and shampoo is what you'll find in mine. Personal products are kept in my room, and medicines are in a different cabinet in the kitchen :o) Interesting how each has their "own way" of keeping things at home, right?
Lovely baskets!! I really like them :o)
have a lovely day!

Oh my... I hate to admit it but I don't use hardly any products... maybe a hang over from my tom boy days?? Toothpaste (3 different kinds - I like to switch around), hand lotion, liquid make up, shampoo, rouge, several different lip sticks, brush, perfume...that's about it (Hummm more than I thought actually!). I must admit to getting good quality products though. Don't get many but those I get are really nice.
What an interesting question! :) Really does show...well, something about us! Not quite sure what..but something! (Let me know when you figure it out!)
Have a good day!

Zuzana, it looks like your bathroom cabinet is filled with lots of goodies. Mine is very boring ~ mostly necessities...band-aids, creams, soap, headache pills...
I do have yummy bubble bath that I keep on a shelf in the bathroom.

Hugs,
Donna

Oh boy. I have not opened my bathroom cabinet for a LONG time. I wonder what's in there as well? Shall I open that door or not?

I enjoyed reading the comments. By reading them, I felt I was peeking into their cabinets. Since I live in a hostel, there are no cabinets but at home I do have a decent cabinet. Not much but basic essentials.

I would love to be your guest, Zuzana and smell the lovely aromas of your bathroom.

Well, I don't peek into the cabinets as I have never thought of something like that before this.

Joy always,
Susan

My bathroom has few cabinets, but I have a huge closet where I keep extra essentials: deodorants, shampoos, etc. My tastes are super simple and I don't wear much make up. So really, I have a boring bathroom.

Ahh... My bath cabinet.. My list is almost similar to yours Zuzana.. Body lotions, facial mask, foundation creams, dozens of lipstick, and lip gloss to go with these lipsticks, lip balm, body wax, perfumes, body mist (this is a must for me after shower), nail enamels (you name a color and I have it, do u remember my nail art post?) and of course shampoos, conditioners, body wash and bubble bath !! :) Bathroom is one place I always love to relax. Just fill the tub, pour some bubble bath solution, and soak myself for hours together with some soothing music. Thanks for allowing me to share this dear Zuzana.

That was definitely an interesting question :)

Have a happy 'rest-of-the-week' :)

Cheers,
Sukanya

ughhhh, I have things in there that I should get rid of, old stuff that don't work anymore. Every so often I go through it and do what I enjoy the most: throw away stuff!
I don't wear much make up, only the basics, but I do have many body creams, most of them opened mostly full.
I try to organize it often and then it gets unorganized often...*sigh*

Anyone looking for a needed roll of toilet paper will have to shout for help. I keep that in the hall closet--because I have a ton of it for fear of ever running out. In my cabinet: tooth care stuff galore, lotion, lavender water.

no cabinets hung in my bathroom yet. (new house and have not hung anything on the walls yet. maybe this year!) I do have a shelving unit in there though.

towels
wash cloths
hand towels
assorted pills, aspirin, etc.
baskets full of skin products
etc. etc. lots of stuff!

Oh what a fun topic. I've never peeked in anyone's cabinet either but anyone peeking in mine, which is extraordinarily small would find:

Toothpaste, dental floss, hair products, my son's shaving cream and razor, ointments, and some of my makeup. I keep larger things under the sink, like extra soap, shampoo and TP. The rest gets stored in the hall linen closet.

Zuzana: That was so funny! I never thought about people doing that when they visit. From now on, I'll have to smile and remember this post when someone says, "Um, excuse me I'll be right back". ! :D xoxo

I used to have masses of stuff but in my old age I choose a great product and stick with it. One shampoo, one make~up etc. Makes for a nice neat uncluttered bathroom. Just sayin'.......

God bless and have yourself a warm fuzzy kinda day!!!

This is a cool post, Zuzana! We have a drawer and cabinet on each side of the bathroom sink...one for Jack, the other for me. My drawer has my toothbrush, toothpaste, contact lens supplies, a little makeup (don't wear much) and pedicure stuff. The cabinet below is all hair care and bath products, scissors, extra bath soap. That's about it! I never even look in Jack's side. And I've never peeked in another person's bathroom cupboard. The door/drawer might squeak and then I'd be terribly embarrassed!

I love cosmetics too! My tiny bath (all my own) has a large assortment of my quest for the perfect makeup--never can quite find the right shade! I have several moisturizers and cleansing creams. Right now I'm loving Clinique's rinse off foaming cleanser mousse which feels wonderful! I also love tinted body lotions in summer. I'm fussy about my toothpaste too-Crest original formula. I'm allergic to the gel type! It's where I recharge my cell phone and keep a radio (gotta have a little music), while I primp! Candles too--real ones that smell wonderful like Aromatique's Splendor in the Bath. I love Aromatique home fragrances which are made here in our state--they ALL smell natural and wonderful. I love their smell of Spring and Christmas scent! I can't stand stinky potpourri or candles! Fun post, Suzana!

The cabinet in my bathroom is very small, but you'll find toothbrushes and paste, contact solution, hair spray (cause my hair is so thin and flyaway I have to have something to set it with) deodorant, and mouthwash. Under the sink you would find a stack of white towels and washcloths and my blow dryer.

Make-up, nail polish, lotion and any other stuff of that sort is in my bedside drawers. There's nothing exciting in my collection of body care products.

And so surprised as it seems that none of you have ever been doing just that in your host’s bathrooms – I guess that statement must be somewhat wrong.;)

I enjoyed so much to learn how different we are and how some of us rely heavily on all kind of products, while some need only the minimal to function.

And to those of you who reading this got reminded of the fact that your cabinets need cleaning - I can disclose that this post was inspired by my very own cleaning a week back and am happy to confess that the contents were reduced by two thirds.;)

As always, thank you all for your visits and endlessly kind and entertaining comments. You make my day.;)
