"Second Bloom".

My parents left today, driving back home to Prague. It is always a bit surreal to have a house full of life one minute and then have it all to oneself again the next.
I enjoy having visitors and my family is no exception. Particularly as the moments we get to spend together are few and far between...

The weather has turned for the better and it has been a wonderful summer week. I am so thankful that my mother and father got to see Scandinavia at it's very best, with beautiful sunny days, when warm easterly winds bring dry air, reviving the last summer month with visits to the beach, creating memories to last through the long winter ahead.

Nature is again all in bloom after receiving the vital sun light. My kaprifolium (honeysuckle) and roses are in their "second bloom" period. I love to see the presence of the fragrant flowers of the honeysuckle at the same time as the dark red berries, which are the fruits of the earlier June flowers. If the conditions are right, the lovely roses will last long into the time of the first frost.

I know how you feel... it's really bad when you're surrounded by loved ones one minute, & alone the next, but I MUST remind you... you're not alone! I'm with you!

...And so are your blossoming flowers, as beautiful, as ever!

My friend, Ria, actually names her flowers, & talks to them... tried it once, I felt Sooo soo silly!
it's like 'li'l Mel's in the backyard, TALKING TO PLANTS!!'
eew! how crummy i felt, & like an exact fool too!

Yes,it's so sad when visitors leave and your house is empty again, but I know your parents had an enjoyable holiday and you are right - happy memories will linger on!
The honeysuckle is one of my favourite plants. When I was a child our neighbours emigrated to Scotland and their garden was abandoned and overgrown. They had honeysuckle growing there (although we used to call it Woodbine)AND apple trees, so although we were warned not to go into their garden we always managed to sneak over the wall - well how could a child resist such temptation?
I can still smell that honeysuckle...

You had a beautiful second bloom.

The house becomes so quiet after the guests so close to the heart have left... Initially one has to drag his feet to enter back through the door. And you feel that they are still present and suddenly you feel their presence and turn around to discover that no it was just imagination

=MelRoXx,
thank you so much for your very kind and emotional comment, full wit sympathy. No spelling mistakes as far as I can see;)) I appreciate every word.;))
xoxo

=Blogaire,
I too love the Kaprifolium, as we call it here. It is the most beautiful plant that I have. It almost died on me last year, but came back with all its splendor this summer. It is a bit cramped and fighting over sunlight with the clematis, but I hope it still thrives. Thank you for sharing your lovely childhood memory.;))

=Philip,
great words, I will try to remember it when it comes to people.;))

=Jason,
thank you so much for your kind compliments and for stopping by, please come back again.;)

=Doreen,
thank you dear friend.;) xo

=Sumandebray,
what an almost poetic comment. Thank you so much for describing what many of us feel when our near and dear leave. I guess most of us who live far away from our loved ones will know and recognize this sentiment.;)

How quickly your time with your parents must have gone(and you STILL managed a daily blog entry--I am in awe!), and I know that suddenly empty house feeling. I'll bet even Bat Cat is missing the company and extra voices in the house.

=Tina,
yes, time flies for sure when you want it to stop for a while.;)
Yes, Batcat is looking around for company, but he gladly ventured into the empty guest room and slept in the made beds.;)) What a treat.;))
Thank you for your always kind words.;)xo

Second blooms are very special. My rose geraniums have bloomed profusely second time around and smell even sweeter.

So glad your parents enjoyed their visit and I know that empty house feeling but you have dear friend Batcat to keep you company!
