The Season Of The Indigo Blue Flowers.

I am always amazed by the relativity with which each season moves forward. The tides of time relentlessly splash over us, without mercy, without delay. Each year starts and ends, but it is never the same.

Ever since I was a child I was fully aware of these changes that this life cycle brings on in nature. I recall trying to document the views out of the windows of my room, depicting the changes in the foliage of trees, the bloom of flowers and the versatile animal life.
Today, with all the advances in technology and our access to state of the art cameras and processing, I fully enjoy cataloging the changes I see around me.

The summer has peaked and so has the season of the clematis flowers. The end of its blooming season always signifies the fact that the summer is preparing for its departure. Slowly but surely, the days are getting shorter and the sun weaker. The warm season in Scandinavia is short and elusive, yet very intense, colourful and lush.

Nothing illustrates the contrast between the seasons like your series of photos above! It also shows how lush plants can grow this far north. (I've started calling Norway the jungle of the north: It's completely covered in green and trees. It's also a comment on how few farmers with grazing animals we have left. But I digress.)

As beautiful as the clematis is, it does make me a bit wistful about the inevitable end of summer. Fortunately, autumn is also beautiful!

I just admire your garden and your plants Protege, it looks like a real oasis and even when it rains(as you have shown)it looks beautiful and calm. I thought I saw a Woodbine/ Honeysuckle plant beside the Clematis?
A friend, who is Polish asked me this morning "Is this Autumn?" At first I wasn't sure if she was checking on the translation or enquiring about the season. She was genuinely surprised that the year had advanced so quickly. How time flies!

Re my above comment - August is the beginning of Autumn(Fall)in Ireland, a tradition that dates back to pagan times.
No wonder my friend from Polska looked a little confused!

Though afraid and reluctant to changes, I do appreciate and long await the changes in nature, even though there are not as many here as there are in a full four-season location. Probably because I know that they bring something unique and special. Sunday was a very "November" day weather wise and I thought that I could not wait for it to come along ;-) But no rush; I'm deeply enjoying what August is bringing so far.
Lovely Clematis! and wonderful photo record of its 2009 cycle. Thanks for sharing!
