Family Art.

Many members of my family are creative. My mother used to love to write when she was younger. She loves poetry and used to compete in local recital competitions as a child. Her sister, my aunt, always loved to draw and even though she initially worked as an architect, today she owns her own art design company, illustrating books and creating commercials.

My father, just like me, loves to paint. He has created numerous art pieces that used to hang on display in his practice, before he retired. I think many of his patients admired his painting and urged him to have an exhibition. My father though regards oil painting as his hobby and over the years has given most of his art away.

I have been the lucky receiver of three of his paintings, all stunning in my eyes. I enjoy his meticulous, detailed style. All three oil works have been inspired by the Swedish nature. Anything from country roads in early spring to the pristine beaches in the summer. The vivid colours and the choice of the scenery shows that he is a nature lover and a dreamer at heart.

I'd like to think that I inherited these traits from him.

found your blog through David´s Post of the Day and will add one dimension of your Bohemian style and your family paintings - Expressionism - I love that style.

You're right. Your father's artwork is very good. My favorite is the first piece. I like the way the road draws you right into the scene.

Please show us some of your work. I've been meaning to ask you to for some time now. Pretty please.....

Thank you for sharing your father's artwork with us - they really are very good. It's amazing that he just gave them away, but what a fantastic gift for the recipient! Out of the three you have, my favourite has to be the avenue of trees along a country lane - my idea of heaven!

Have a lovely day.

Hi: I found your blog through my friend Seamus. My late father was Macedonian-Bulgarian and I have a relative in North Carolina. I will look around your site. Please feel free to stop by mine for a visit anytime. Denmark must be fascinating!

You know, now I know where you get your talent from...not to mention your beauty...It runs in the family!
Your dad's paintings are very good..quite the artist..what kind of medicine did he practice?
Did your mom have any of her writing published?

Your father is quite gifted! It is obvious that this talent runs in the family. Art with vibrant colors is very appealing to me as well. I am very drawn to the yellow in the field of the first painting in the group. Any one of those paintings are the type of pieces I would display in my own home.

Wow! Your father is a great artist. You are one lucky girl to have inherited those beautiful pieces of art! I also believe that you not only got the gift of art from your father, but you also got the gift of writing from your mother.

I always enjoy reading your blog.

xoxo, Shelly

I was particularly taken by the painting of the tree lined lane - such persistence in regrowth, new life. Your father is wonderfully talented.

My family, too, was quite the creative bunch. Mom was the painter, but I just recently found out that dad was a closet writer - at 92 he tells me! LOL

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments. David's has certainly been a wonderful connecting point. :)

Nice Artworks. What are the size of these canvases.
Again, I like traditional form of paintings as opposed to the modern arts leaving a few odd compositions.
Great to know such talented and creative you are part of.

=sujata,
thank you, my father will be so happy to read your comment; I too love the beach the best.;)) Thank you for coming back again, I appreciate that very much.;))

=ArneA,
you do me great honour with your words. Always happy to meet a fellow Scandinavian.;)) I agree with you on the art style you mention.;) Thank yo so much for stopping by.;))

=stevie,
ah, my father will be so happy.;) Yes, he managed to paint that one very well - particularly the sky; the color is so realistic.;)
I have featured my paintings previously in three posts. If you follow the "art" or "painting" labels on the sidebar, further down on the left, it will take you there.;))
Always happy when you stop by.;)xo

=Jeanne,
my father, just like me, enjoy painting as a hobby. We know some people might like it, but we do not believe we have any real talent and feel inadequate to even consider to sell any of our art. We rather keep it or give it away.;)) Hopefully the paintings will make someone happy.;))
Thank you for your always kind words and compliments;)) xoxo

=R.Ramesh,
thank you so much; the nomination was a surprise, but a pleasant one.;)) Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by.;))

=Claudia,
thank you; my father will be incredibly pleased to learn how far his art has made it, even if only in cyberspace;)) Always happy when you stop by dear friend.;))
xoxo

=Mahmud,
so right you are; one day it could be fun for the next generation to look at these pieces. Now hopefully there will be a next generation one day.;)) I am taking my time on that one.:P And running out of it too.:P
Always happy when you stop by, dear friend.;))

=Michael,
thank you so much for stopping by; very glad to have you visit indeed. It is amazing the connections one can make just by few keystrokes.
Indeed, I love living in Denmark, it is an absolute gem in every way.
Thank yo so much for your time and for your kind words.;)

=BLOGitse,
my father thanks you; that is the best compliment of all.;)) Thhank you so much for your kind comment;))

=Donna,
your words mean so lot, as you are such a creative and skillful artist yourself. Thank you, my father will be so happy.;))
xoxo

=Maggie May,
thank you likewise for your kind words and your visit.;)) xoxo

=CHICMUSE,
thank you! And I appreciate you stopping by.;)) xo

=Baron's Life,
thank you dearly for those kind words and compliments. They mean so much.;)) I am not sure my mother ever published anything, but she had talent. My father was a dentist.;))
Thank you so much for your visit.;)

=Holly,
ah, thank you so much my dear friend. My father will indeed not believe all the appreciation. The yellow fields are rape seed fields and are very typical for Scandinavia. In late April and May, there are all in bloom and the contrast with the blue sky and white houses is a sight out of this world.;))
Always enjoy your visits.;)) xoxo

=Shelly,
you are the best; your words and comments are always a joy to read. Thank you for your kindness and for always finding the time to visit me.;))
My father will be pleased hearing that his art is so liked.;)) xoxo

=Seamus,
thank yo so much for your visit; I truly enjoyed reading your post that was nominated and the rest of your writing as well.:)
Thank you for your kind words; how exciting that you too come from a creative family. I think perhaps most of us that write online have some sort of artistic rots somewhere.;))
Thank you again for taking the time to stop by.;)

=Sumandebray,
I agree, some of the modern art doesn't do nothing for me; not all of it though. But I rather enjoy the works of the grand old masters.;)
The canvases are not large, only perhaps 45cm x 30cm.
Thank you for always taking the time to stop by.;)

I do like your father's style of painting, and especially like the one of the tree-lined path. I have seen those kinds of trees(stumpy, windswept) in Dutch landscapes before, too--looks so European. :-)

=Tina,
my father would be delighted to read all the comments. The one you like seems to be the favorite of other as well. Thank you so much for your kind words.;))xo

How colourful they are! I can see that your Dad has a real zest for life. My Mom also painted. She started in her 60s and was quite talented. I did a post about her art a couple of years back. I have a few of her pieces around my home. I have also become the proud owner of a few of Frank's late mother in law's water colours. She too was a talent and prolific. All of hers are country settings.

=Hilary,
you are surrounded by artist family and relatives as well. I have noticed that is often like that.;)) And it is never too late to start.;))
Thank you so much for your kind words about my fathers paintings and for always taking the time to stop by.;)) xo
