This past week has proceeded in the spirit of the sun. As we crossed the vernal equinox a week ago, the return of the light is becoming ever so more obvious in my days and a cause for joy and celebration. Thus I am looking forward to take part in another kind of somewhat related global observance today.
One that is uniting the world and has grown over few years to connect us all - through a very simple act.
A turn of the switch, abolishing the lights for one hour - no more, no less. Such an effortless yet important contribution while the lighter evenings make this task not only enjoyable, but endlessly tranquil.
While I will watch the sun set in its true cardinal direction, enjoying this silent yet transcending show, upon its conclusion I will light a few candles and surrender to the brief connection that unifies me with nature and the rest of humanity in an almost absolute, one of a kind sense.
Happy Earth Hour everyone.

I always seem to hear about this after the event. But now I can take part. Thanks.
Good idea Zuzana.
Just stopped by before our trip. I'll see you later.
Turn off the lights to turn on the light of new ideas. Thanks, Zuzana
smiles. i will be with you in that moment. enjoy the dark my friend. happy saturday.
Well, why not? Is this your photo? It is so beautiful...
Now, the message I send to everyone... :-)
I did not write often recently, and will not write during the next two weeks. We're going to Paris, it took all of our time to prepare everything, and I will not use a computer in Paris, nope, only two Canon 5D mark II and various prime lenses...
But I will be back, don't despair!
Thanks for being there,
Roger
I'll think of you Zuzanna, as I sit before a candle and hope our prayers in darkness will enlighten the world.
I think Earth Hour is such a great idea. Wouldn't it be great to have the whole world united for one cause, for one hour? And Mother Earth is the whole world's concern...she is our home.
I'll be gathering candles, incense and my thoughts for that hour. :)
Happy Earth hours to you too!
I just posted about my little cat, Edward. Praise God, he seems to be doing much better! (How's Batcat?)
Hope you have a lovely Sunday - "Spring Forward" tonight into even more light during the day!!
Blessings!
Ann
I hope as many people as possible as able to take part.
Hi Zuzana,
I have to admit it's the first I've heard of Earth Hour. I will never forget camping under the stars out west years ago and seeing the night sky really for the first time in my life filled with millions of stars and the Milky Way. No city lights to dim it all out. It makes one realize what a miracle it is to have life as we know it on Earth. Have a lovely weekend.
Hugs,
Sandy
The kids have learnt all about this at school - how cool is that? We'll be lighting candles and enjoying some quiet time together before bed this evening...
We will be celebrating our planet with you this evening!
I haven't necessarily noticed it staying darker longer but I did notice yesterday morning when I left for school that the light had already started to come up.
Oh yes, I've heard of turning off the lights for an hour from someone else's blog too. I guess they participate every year.
Enjoy your weekend, dearest Zuzana!
ahhhhh! I feel guilty now that I didn't partake in this hour of respect for our plantet. I never have and well, I should
This is definitely fascinating to me, Zuzana! lol!!!! :)
A wonderful celebration.
Hugs,
Donna
I've not heard of this! What a lovely idea! I'm sure it forces you to relax!
The first that I heard of this was about an hour ago on another blog. Too late since everyone is already in bed. But it's a great idea.
Yes, wonderful celebration & such little sacrifice. we too switched off our one solitary light, we sat in candlelight & enjoyed our evening just the same. I'm afraid here the gesture, as usual, is overshadowed in the news by the dramas & troubles. I was hoping to see great footage & photo's of many City's in darkness. Happy Sunday, hope there is much light & celebration in your heart & day.
Zuzana,
I'm so sorry about your coming over and not finding Edward's post. I was making changes to it and well it ended up being deleted (why I should never work at the computer when I am really ready for nighttime sleep!). But he is doing well and we hope to bring him home one day this week.
Thanks so much!
Ann
An hour of pure peace!
Everyone should contribute to Earth Hour.
Now that is an incredible statement.
1.3 billion. wow.
I was actually at work at the time. lol
It is an unique feeling to get connected by a action .... one for all and all for one!
I took place in Earth Hour as you did Zuzana.
Nice post, as always!
Margie xo
We enjoyed the dark here, playing Blokus and Trouble and having a grand time. Going beyond the hour may well mean going to be early!
Earth Hour is a great idea. and the sunsets in the previous blog are soo beautiful .
Nice to keep imprinted in your mind.:)
the "planet hour" - as they called it here - took place from 8:30 pm on. We had my niece's birthday party that morning, so by 8, I was asleep! ha! :o)) We certainly took advantage of the natural day light during the day on such happy celebration, and let the planet sleep early at night :o)
So nice that you also took part of this world happening!
Lynne, Elizabeth, Elisabeth, Brian, Roger, Myrna, LadyCat, Hilary, Ann, Kath, Sandy, ladyfi, Laura, sprinkles, I.B.G (welcome), Myriam, Michael, Donna, Betsy, Matty, P, Ann, Jill, Rajesh, Richard, Sumandebray, Margie, Sandy, Lady and Claudia - so many of us truly love this observance and I am delighted to have found so many kindred souls that too enjoy a quiet hour, without technology, where the sentiments lie in the unity between us all. And with nature.
Thank you all for taking the time to stop by and for all your lovely words.
Xoxo
Zuzana
