Days Off-Line.

As much as I love to update this site of mine regularly, at times I feel I want to withdraw from the on-line world. Blogging, as much as it is highly addictive is also highly time consuming. Thus occasionally I experience a need to return to my own life, as it plays out off-line and just live it without the need to document it here.

This happens to me a few times a year, currently coinciding with spring tiredness and the change of seasons. It certainly felt revitalizing to focus on other aspects of my life, areas which I have neglected for a while.

So what did I do in my week off blogging?
I got some work done at the lab (my boss would be happy), I caught up on some reading, I relaxed with some great company, ate some great food, I cleaned my house thoroughly - particularly the large windows as the return of the sun reveals so easily that the glass panes are dirty.
I removed the outdoor Christmas lights, which I usually keep through the winter and I enjoyed the last traces of the snow. It made me happy to realize that the early spring flowers that were about to bloom two weeks ago survived under the white cover and are still growing through the last traces of the wintry precipitation.

I contemplated life's big questions - well, the questions of my life mostly - listened to my favorite music and watched some great movies.
Still, the best visual shows were the ones that played out in front of my newly cleaned windows - the very early spring sunsets. As the sun is now moving higher and higher in the sky, slowly approaching its true cardinal direction for the spring equinox later this month, it will soon return completely into my view.

Eventually, my inspiration to write returned slowly and I missed writing and compiling all the photographs that I keep taking. This made me realize that as much as I have an off-line life, I also do have a very essential on-line life as well.
And in certain ways these two are now intertwined.
It's good to be back.

When I saw you were back (thanks for your lovely comments on the church and Edward - I think your Batcat is fabulous too!)I just had to put off working for a few minutes and stop by to say Hi! I so understand and agree with what you wrote here. I found that in order to continue blogging (which I really enjoy and want to do!) that I had to stop being quite as disciplined when it came to posting and visiting. It helps a lot. In real life, my friends understand when I can't go out with them...I figured that my blogging friends would too!
Hope you have a really nice week!
Ann
PS So glad the early flowers are still there!

Good Morning, Darling-

my eyes are used to this little netbook and I try a new start answering posts...

I know that feeling so good!!!

Very often I try to delete my blog. But people like you- I would miss!

Life without internet is much more intensive...

I love the silence- without radio- without internt- no telephone- I really love it...

Your senses are able to feel... too much blogging is not healthy for the soul, I think...

So let me hug you after my long pause-

see you- Ines

Dear Zuzana, I am thrilled to see you back here. I find your blog like a breath of fresh air, lovely and refreshing!

I do whole-heartedly understand you though...I am the same way when it comes to sometimes needing a break. It is good to live awhile without blogging, helps us to focus on really living!

I haven't blogged for awhile now, not purposely but simply because inspiration hasn't hit and I don't want to force the issue.:)

I wish you a lovely day, full of joy and hopefully the promise of spring in the air!

Love Colleen

So you're back, Zuzana and with you the spring and for us what you might call fall, but what we call autumn. How wonderful are the seasons. Welcome again.

Hello Dear One,
I'm going to take a bit of a break this week as my girls are on vacation from school. I really understand the need for a break from time to time. I've not done that very often, because I too feel quite connected to my online friends. I tend to visit with all of you far more often than the people who live nearby...then again you all come to me, and are quite faithful. I feel blessed.

Perhaps I can convince my daughters that this would be a good week for window washing, at least on the insides as it is still stormy here and outside would be pointless.

Blessings to you my friend and welcome back from your blogcation.

So glad you enjoyed your week off Zuzana, I think it's imperative that we all take time off every now and then if only to reintroduce ourselves to the real world around us. This is one reason I only post weekly and only "visit" two or three days each week. Otherwise, I'd never get take care of the other important things in my life!

How wonderful your break sounds, and a lovely sounding balance between achievement and rejuvenation. I love your blog so much, even if I don't comment as often as I intend to. Hooray Spring! xoxoxoxo

You said, "It's good to be back."

We say: It's definitely good to have you back."

Reading the initial lines, I was slowly getting a feeling that you are going to stop blogging. Then after I proceeded to read further, I relaxed. How easily the human mind jumps to conclusions. Zuzana, It is wonderful to be able to be reading your posts again.

Bravo!

Joy always,
Susan

Will be cleaning our windows thoroughly too. The winter months are so hard on them. Just need to find a day when Hubby has time to help since I can't get some of the windows open... It's always a great feeling though when I can look out my windows without looking through winter grime.

Clean windows.I will do that job when the snow is totally disappeared and it isn't so horribly cold outside.

Good to have you back!!!!

Very nice! I think we all can relate! When it's time to do spring cleaning here, I'll probably take a week off, too, and concentrate on other things.

Nice to see you back, though...you were missed! Lovely new photos of you, too!

the beauty is that when you return your friends are waiting.

Finding a balance can be tough...I oftentimes find myself spending much too much time on-line and MAKE MYSELF turn off the computer! But the...with time I am drawn back to visit!

Wonderful photos. LOVE Batcat on his cozy rug!

Sounds like a lovely little blogging holiday. You knew you needed it. And you took it. Wise.

I must keep this in mind. :-)

I get to feeling worn out on blogging, but don't do anything about it. Just poke along and stay right in the usual mode.

Next time, I get that feeling... I hope I listen to it. If even for a couple of days. A break is a break is a break. And we all need change, now and then. :-)

Thank you for the inspiration.

Gentle hugs...

Welcome back Zuzana, I am so glad you had a nice break and by all accounts you had a busy time. I have also been absent from blogland recently because of pressures of time and work and I have really missed the wonderful on-line community that I became a part of, with you Zuzana being very much in the centre of it.
I am not sure at the moment which direction the road ahead is leading me - I am certainly at a crossroads, but I AM certain that my on-line life will be an important part of my future.
Glad to see Spring is knocking on your door at last Zuzana!

I know exactly what you mean!! Going through some troubles with the Internet service lately made me think about blogging. I treasure my blog-friends, and enjoy the chance it gives me to share my country to the world and the creativity possibilities. Yet, it does make me wonder. I don't have that many followers or readers, so that's another reason. I don't know...I'm having a "should I stay on facebook" moment with blogger :o) One should be able to make their mind quickly on those matters, right? If one is doubtful, then there must be something making you stay...but what is it exactly?!

Glad to have you back Zuzana!! I'm happy you enjoyed your time away.

Great to see you back, too. Why not just blog less frequently than daily.. kind of a compromise between your two worlds.

Love the photos.. particularly the good company ones. ;)

It's great to see you back! Sounds like you had a nice break from the blog world. I go through phases of not blogging for awhile, too. It does take time away from people & that bothers me sometimes. I seem to post less and less anymore.
Your photos are lovely as always : )

Welcome back friend!! I am glad that you are refreshed after your little break. I agree that sometimes we all need our own moments to reflect on life and not be constantly 'plugged in'. I am so happy for you that spring is around the corner and showing you little signs of its presence lurking here and there. I know how you thrive in the summer.

Funny how you commented on my blog that you could never pick just one color to love, because I think of you and I think of color!! :):)

Zuzana, you exude calm. To hell with blogging, get out in the fresh air!

Dear Zuzana, you would never date to go out never to come back, eh? I need your posts, for one, and I'm not alone.

Is it time consuming? Oh very very very much... so from time to time you've got to get some fresh air.

I see in your words some of my own destructive thoughts.

Unknown said...

Yes, I just mentioned how a former blogger once told me how many hours he spent each morning devising blog posts that were hysterically funny (and often fascinating). It can be demanding. I agree, Zuzana. Welcome Back!xoxo!! :)

I'm glad you decided that you need your online life too!

A collage of the sights and sounds of your week is a great idea for an ongoing project. It's a visual window into your likes and spaces.

I hope you feel refreshed, relaxed and renewed!
