Last Sunday Of January.

January is almost over. Named after Janus, the god of the doorway, the dreary month has only one more week left to go. I feel sorry for January, as it is hated by so many. Me included.
I am trying though, to do my best to find something good about this poor month. I am an optimist at heart and so here is a small list of positive things, to wish it good bye;

1. The days ARE getting longer, in contrast to December.
2. As the first month of the year, it offers us fresh starts and new beginnings.
3. January Sundays are perfect to sit curled up in front of the fireplace with a good book or watching movies, without bad conscious of wasting a day.
4. This month is as made for using and burning many candles.
5. The best (the long days of summer) is YET to come.

Hi dear! Glad to hear the quote helped you in a way. I guess that's what makes me keep on putting them up-- because you never know who it might inspire.

January was never my fave month too.. I always feel lethargic.. However-- so many great things happened this month for me that I feel "friendlier" towards it. hehe..

xoxo

Ever the optimist! February's almost here (not that it's much better than January, but it brings us that much closer to spring!

Well, for us in USA January was spectacular! We ushered in a new President...now, that is a good thing.

And personally my fave month is FEB..why? Because it is my BIRTHDAY month...punxy phil figures out what's next by his shadow (more or less winter)..valentines day...so that means chocolate & flowers... presidents day...a day off for most and black history month and sometimes it can be a short month!

Just my observation! ;)

January is like our last bit of peace at work until June, so even though it's cold outside, I am trying to savor nights at home because in a few weeks, I'll rarely see it for a few months.

That's a pretty fine list for reluctant optimism. ;)

My fave months are December (of course) and January. After sooo many gifts I received during christmas and new year, I'll get to get more on January cause it's my birthday on the first week! :D

But what I hate most about this month is that it's the continuation of everything you left before christmas break. errrr! :(

Valentine, that quote was really perfect. All the quotes you use are always wonderful, but this one just hit the spot!
Glad that the month of January has been good to you, hope this will continue.;) Always happy when you stop by.;))

Diane, trying hard to be an optimist, but it has taken some work this month. And I agree on being closer to spring, hope it will an early one this year.;)
Ah, thanks so much for the award!!! You are th best, I will get it later today.;) xoxo

Lulda, you are even more optimistic than me! Glad you enjoyed January, hope February will be good to you as well; and happy birthday in advance.;))

Dearest Hilary, I am trying.;)) I am doing my best to like this crazy month.;)) But it is almost over.;)

Noelle, I know very few people that are born in January (actually none), so you must be very special.;))
I so agree with you, I like December a lot, although my favorite month is June. And I also agree on hating all the catching up on things in the beginning of the year.;))

Mel, it sounds like your work must be busy in the summer, in mine it is the opposite, summers in the lab are laid back and no one is around.;))
