Glow In The Dark.

In order to confirm that I truly feel young, at least young at heart, I have to share something magically whimsical.
I am not a child, but I at times like childlike things. My friend Holly was recently captivated by the fact that I have my bedroom in the attic. 'It had a little princess feel', she stated. I never thought about that, but she is right on. I am very romantic and this is indeed reflected all over my house and the rooms. My bedroom is no exception. The bed is right under a window in the vaulted ceiling, enabling me to watch stars in the black night sky. Often the moon will shine right onto my face while I sleep. Or, at times, it will illuminate my favourite painting of all times, given to me by a special man.
He also very early understood my fascination with the sky and the stars and gave me a wonderful, magical gift, "Glow in the dark stars and galaxies”. Meant to be put up in children’s room, this gift made me giddy and happy, just like a little girl. I placed the glowing stars all around the window in the vaulted ceiling, just above the bed, creating a fantasy extension of the night sky. The shinning stars are the last thing I see before I close my eyes, reminding me of what I hold dear. It is a jovial kind of magic I still enjoy despite many candles on my birthday cake.

An old Irish blessing goes: May the blessings of the great rain be on you, may they beat upon your spirit and wash it fair and clean and leave there many a shining pool where the blue of heaven shines and sometimes a star. I was all the while thinking about this old Irish blessing when I read your post. Ya, we need to feel young at heart.I remember of the title of one song which I liked those days called ' Forever Young' :)

I think I'm going to have to buy one or two of those things and put them up on the inside of our observatory's dome - for those cloudy nights of course!

OK, It's getting almost psychotic how much we have in common!! (In a good way:)!) I have always had glow in the dark stars on my bedroom ceiling up until my last move. (Haven't gotten around to putting them up yet.) They make me smile, and lets face it, in this world you can never have too many things that make me smile. I am glad that your "little princess" bedroom has magical fairytale stars.

Mahmud, thank you for bringing this Irish blessing to my attention; I love everything Irish.:) I hope we can all remain forever young, at least young at heart.:)

Valentine, you are so much fun and so witty and your site keeps me feeling young. Happy to you share this experience with you.:)

mlh, I just love the night sky and the moon. Any time I find myself away from city lights on a clear night, I just want to look at the sky forever. It is only at night that I become totally aware of the fact that we are a part of a waste space. It is a somewhat overwhelming feeling at times.

Diane, I knew Ryan was on the same wavelength as me!;)

Tom, that is a great idea.:) I am sure you colleagues will find this utterly amusing and you will be a hit at work.:)

Holly, thank you again for the inspiration for this post. I have known for a while that we have a lot in common. I was smiling when I read you did indeed had those too until very recently and I agree, a smile or a good laugh every day is the best medicine against aging.:)

First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I know I'm late to the (virtual) party, but the wishes are as heartfelt! Secondly, I love it! I have glow in the dark stars too! Actually right now they're in a box upsstairs in my closet, because I never got around to putting them up in this house. In my old apartment, a friend and her husband came to visit and I gave them my room to sleep in. When they turned off the light I heard her yelp, then start laughing. I hollared to ask if everything was all right and she just laughingly said, "You've got stars on your ceiling!" I think I might have to make time over the holiday weekend next weekend to put them up here.
