The frequency of frosty nights is increasing and with it, a new kind of art is to be found in nature. A gentle, still only very delicate icing, defining the image of leaves, at times resembling sprinkled sugar coat.
Signaling in no uncertain terms that the arrival of winter is imminent.

That spiky green mixed with grass in the last picture, do you its name? My mom calls it "cola de ardilla" (squirrel tail) and has a pot of it. Nice coincidence! :o)

We haven't had many frosts here just yet but with temps plunging to zero tonight I hope to wake up to a beautiful frost tomorrow!

Such beautiful photos Zuzana...I love the way the frost brings definition to the edges of things and the strong skeletal forms of the trees as they gradually emerge from their colorful leafy garments.

But Zuzana, I am sure that you are joking, aren't you? Here, the fallen leaves do not create colourful patterns or anything of the sort. No. They are already in a lot of big industrial bags. In fact they are gone where they do what they have to do with dead leaves and such...

the onset of winter and snow - for me it existed only in my imagination for a long long time. ten years back i made my first visit to the US - and winter was demystified - but did not lose its charm, just as the monsoons that i have lived and grown up with continues to move me.

No sign of frost here, it's too wet, and quite mild still. I love frosty mornings, as long as they're not too cold!

Wonderful frost photos - you captured the change of seasons perfectly. Despite getting a lot of nights below freezing, frost like this isn't common where I live because it's too dry.

Yes.. frost is on its way ..however, here in Purdue country, we have had 2 beautiful weeks of lovely dry fall sunny warm weather... but it is soon to come to an end....

I love the sugar coated beauty of these images. You have a keen eye for the changes Mother Nature makes from season to season. We haven't had a frost yet this year, which is pretty unusual for November.
I love the *icing* on all the leaves and plants. I often leave plants in the gardens for that reason, as I love to see them filled with frost and then snow. It certainly IS an art form.
