September Sun.

While autumn prepares to make its grand entrance, it did offer us this week a true sneak preview of what is to come. Wind and rain has been battering my surroundings for the past few days, creating a sense of subtle sadness, as if nature is shedding tears over the imminence of summers departure.

A few days back though, when sunny skies still graced us with their presence, I could relish in the beautiful September sun, setting now almost in its true cardinal direction. I enjoyed it's subtle retreat over the horizon and captured it through the lens of my camera.

The sunsets have moved from their June northwest position to a more westerly position, signifying the onset of painted evening sky of the North, which will offer once again spectacular light shows for the next couple of months, adding to the flamboyant beauty of autumn colours.

Oh my -- what marvelous photos.

I don't...cannot lament the passage of summer. I live in a climate where every summer day you walk to the car in the early morning...and are drenched in sweat before you touch the car door. Such is Houston...hot with suffocating humidity.

It is during this time of year that we quickly snap on the TV weather to see if there is a hint of a cool front heading our way. This is a time of anticipation.

That's a lovely way to capture the sky's changing light, Zuzana. Autumn sunsets are my favorites even though they always mean that winter is almost upon us.

beautiful! I love it when the setting sun makes the clouds pink. We've had some lovely sunsets lately...there is just something about September that changes the skies from the summer. I love it.

Your sunsets are always so amazing!

I'm sorry it's been cold and rainy there. I spent a good portion of the day outside yesterday and it was chilly. I was feeling sad because summer is over but I spent several hours outside again today and it was hot out again! I'm so glad because I'm not ready for the changing of the seasons yet. Summer took so long to get here, I'm not ready for it to leave yet.

I wouldn't mind some rain though. It's been awhile since we've had a good rain.

Those are lovely pictures Zuzana. You are definitely lucky to have this wonderful view of the sunset from you place. And yes, the air is becoming colder at nights these days marking the end of summer. Cant believe summer is gone too quickly. :(

Take care Zuzana.

Cheers,
Sukanya

Hello Zuzana,

A bit of nostalgia, some regrets... Here, mid-September means that Autumn is really here, the weather is no longer the same, and the temperature is way down already.

It serves nothing to mourn this Summer. I have seen so many of them already, more than I would care! Let's turn our thoughts towards the coming Autumn and the extraordinary colours that we will see here in two weeks. :-)

Beautiful colors!!! I especially loved those in the last pictures; very Autumn indeed.
If rain is tears over the departure of summer, I wonder what is the sky crying over on this side of the planet?! ;-)) probaly the clueless government, and its inefficiency :-) And worst of all, it doesn't seem to be recovering!, as the rains seems to never end!!...5 months in a row already, and one and a half more to go. :-))
Hope the Autumn is kind this time, with not so much rain.
have a great week ahead!!

I envy you your unobstructed view of the horizon. My pictures of sunsets are blocked by buildings.

As much as I love summer at least twice as much as any other season, I remind myself that I probably wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much if it wasn't for the other three. So bring on Autumn, if only to hurry us along through the seasons until next summer. ;) Beautiful sunsets.. it truly is a wonderful time.

Jerry, Brian, Nessa, Janine, Cheryl, Zuzu, Susan, Betty, Sumandebray, V, Bestsy, Doreen, Sandy, sprinkles, Sukanaya, Richard, Jill, Kath, Roger, Tina, Tony, Michael, ladyfi, Claudia, Keera and Hilary – thank you all for your outmost kind words about my photographs.
I often wish I had a better camera as the reality can not be compared to these images. Particularly when the sun is almost gone, it appears so much brighter and larger then on the captured photographs.

As always, your continuous interest and visits always make my days.:)

Xoxo,
Zuzana

Your sunsets are beautiful at anytime of the year. Our sunset occurs about 7pm now. When daylight saving time ends it will get dark about 5. I'm not looking forward to that either.

Thank you Stevie, now the sunsets occur later and later here as well...
