The Last Summer Kiss...

The seasonal change feels suddenly ever so imminent. However, a few days ago, the receding sun enveloped us in its final sunshine brilliance, kissing us gently good bye...

The air grew warm and the sun strong, one last time. Thus the shielded spot on my terrace became once more an oases in colour and light, offering a sense of summer - perhaps as a conclusion this year. Before long, the magical third season will commence its absolute departure and the sun will follow suit soon thereafter...

The colour of the sunlight shifts almost imperceptibly with the turn of the seasons as the sun sits lower in the sky, or so it seems to me, Zuzana. These are beautiful images of that last summer kiss. The dragonfly on a hand, your hand? conveys such a sense of impermanence, Dragon flies seem so transient to me.

OOh definately a chill in the air this morning, here in England. I shall be wearing a "fleece" for our walk with the dogs. Your secluded seating area looks very inviting.

It is wonderful to be aware of the changing seasons and colours. I really liked the wee corner where you sit and relax. Your fingers with the dragon fly looks cute. It seems like yesterday when you were talking of winters and long nights, and it is already coming again.

The change in seasons also reminds me of our long association. It feels good to think of the comments, mails, and wishes exchanged.

A joy to know you dear Zuzana.

Joy always,
Susan

I can picture you there, reading and good book, raising your face to the sun and sipping a glass of fine wine.

I adore the mellower, almost melancholy feel of September and October sunshine, myself.

What a moment!--to have that large dragonfly land on your hand and you with camera in (other) hand, able to photograph it.

As always, I love your photo collages.

I love your terrace!! I looks so cozy, yet worth a magazine cover! :-) For a change, we are having more sun these days! yey! There is still rain, of course, as the season has not yet finished. But it feels different; as if the environment is slowly and very patietly learning that in two months in should come to an end. Still, chances of more hurricanes, and tropica depressions, but for the time being, enjoying a mixture of rain and sun that can only be beneficial to both humans and nature.
have a great day!!

Hi Zuzana,
Your patio looks so inviting. We haven't spent too much time out on our patio this summer due to the humid weather. I've somewhat let things over-grow and the walk down to the lower level is out of control. Enjoyed reading your post of the last kiss of summer. How true... Autumn is upon us! Hope you are doing well. We went to Chicago for 3 days last week.. it was fun! :) The Bach

We are feeling the changes too, especially in the mornings. Your photos are lovely, Zuzana.

Anything to eek out one more day of summer is good in my book. I haven't put away my lounger yet, and seeing yours with the fleece blanket in case it gets chilly is giving me ideas.
Lovely pictures, as always, Zuzana

Where have you been, Miss Zuzana? I've missed you.

I love that picture of the dragonfly on your hand! How did you get it to land on you like that?

It's already starting to get chilly here and I'm so sad about that. I'm not ready for summer to end yet. It took so long to get here and it seems to be ending so quickly. I'll miss it.

You write so much about the change that I imagine it must get you down. It does me, but then every year, I try to go into it with a positive attitude. At least, I'm not anticipating any surgeries this winter (like the last two).

Zuzana, I hope it goes okay for you. If not, hop a plane to Arizona, USA, and enjoy a week or two of heaven along about January. Stop off in Oregon on the way, and you might even have company for your journey. Warmth, scenic beauty, and sunshine--what a combination.

I appreciate your sense of observation...of feeling the changes around you. Really cool patio.

Your terrace looks so inviting! I can just imagine how peaceful you must feel in that lovely spot. And how on earth did you get that dragonfly to land on your hand!? That's just amazing.

Elisabeth, Kath, Susan, Nessa, Cathy, Brian, Tina, Jill, Claudia, Betty, Janine, The Bach, Donna, Mimi, Sandy, Joanna, Maja, Ola, sprinkles, Snowbrush, Jerry and Cheryl, yes indeed, summer is definitely ending here. The early autumn signs are everywhere and even though just a week ago, the sun was warm and strong, now there is definitely a palpable change in the air. My patio, that was so warm and inviting last weekend is now littered with the first fallen leaves...

Thank you all for your kind visit and words of compliments.

The dragon fly picture was a sheer coincidence of events; I was holding my iPhone inn my right hand, when the insect landed on my left one. I watched it with great interest for a little while, it was almost surreal to have it that close. It seemed not that timid and I could easily open the camera of the phone and take many shots of the encounter. Wonderful stolen moment in time, unforgettable in every way, immortalized by a phone....

Thank you all again for stopping by,
Xoxo

Sigh! You know how I feel about the season.. and its departure. You express it beautifully. I love dragonflies. They're a bit dozy at this time of year. When you're near the water, you'll no doubt see the females dropping their eggs into its depths. We're seeing that at the lake this past week.

Michael and Hilary, thank you for stopping by - yes I love that chair (in any season almost) and yes, I too get so very melancholic when summer departs...
