I love evergreens and perennials. They add so much beauty to any garden, patio or terrace, as they keep their colour through out the year and require minimal care.
Over time, I have slowly planted more evergreens and many types of ivy all around the house, lining the terraces, thus giving them a feel of lushness and increasing my privacy.
Some of you might recall that unfortunately many of my old potted evergreens perished due to a very long and hard winter. I planted a few new ones this April and today many are lush and strong, as they reach the end of their growth cycle with the departure of the summer season (see comparison photographs below).
Hopefully they are ready to withstand the coming winter, which I hope as well will be of a more regular kind; mild and rainy.

i do hope the winter is a bit milder than the last one...i do like the white stuff but not in those quantitites...and hope that touch of green last a bit. have a wonderful weekend zuzana...
I NEED to have evergreen growing plants around me(rhododendron, ivies, pines, etc.). In fact, my husband I have an ongoing battle over the ivy at the base of our house. I prefer it to climb and cover the side of the house--he wants to trim it all off(says it promotes mold and is unhealthy, but I don't see it that way at all!)
BTW, thanks for your sweet comment on my blog the other day. It appears we both took some "time off" from blogging in August. I am going to catch up with your recent blog entires now....
You said the dreaded W word! ;)
I love your blue planters.. everything looks good in blue. :)
You have the most beautiful garden in the world!!!! Sigh...Wish I could sit with you and drink coffee!!! So peaceful! And those blue pots are stunning! Have missed being here!! Sending you much love, Janine XO
Wow! Your "before and after" posts always fill me with HOPE and JOY! I think of the nursery rhyme--Mary Mary, quite contrary...I love seeing your garden grow!! (Well, that's my own version!)
Have a lovely Saturday, dear friend!
Your blue pottery is fabulous!
Green and blue make a beautiful color combination. Every time I see your blue pots I think of Greece. Isn't that funny? You bring a bit of the sunny south to your garden in more ways than one.
Your ever greens are really lush and full. I'm sure they'll make it through the winter unless you have another doozy like last year. My fingers are crossed for them!
Your blue potted evergreens and ivy are just beautiful! Alas, we have no plants of any kind around our house. We had everything pulled out last year (overgrown) so that is one of our projects to hopefully finish this fall. In fact, our lawn service called us in August to tell us our weeds around the house were 3 to 4 feet tall. Even if you don't want it to grow (i.e., weeds) they will. Thankfully he had his men cut them all down and spray before we got home. We got home yesterday from our Alaska trip. It feels great to be home. My deck and porch need to be washed down and cleaned but they aren't as dirty as I thought they would be with us gone all summer. Have a lovely weekend!
You have a green thumb Zuzana. Love your blue pots and your fabulous garden.
Happy weekend.

Someone told me that there are 33, 000 shades of green in this world. Your garden is one of the best, Zuzana. So much passion and tender care, you show for vegetation. How glad they must be for having you around.
Joy always, dear one.
Have a fantastic Sunday,
Susan
And I remember your beautiful blue pots! I love those!
A green thumb. I want one of those. And a terrific photographer to boot. You are so cool.
Dear Zuzana,
I'm a huge evergreen lover too. They're the stalwart stand bys and heart of a good garden. Thanks for giving them their due! Love the photos and pots.
Just weathered hurricane Earl here, but the surf now is HUGE. It hits the ledge in front of our cottage, thunders, and sprays up to 20 feet in the air. Amazing.
Sending happy wishes,

I really like your bright lacquered pots which seem to ignite your garden with radiance.
I am particularly fond of your blue pots! SUCH a cheery blue and unique as well.
Lovely plants!
Missed you yesterday!
I love those blue pots. They go so well with the lush green of the plants.
I hope you have a much milder winter too!
Love your blue pots, Zuzana.
I've got similar ones with...blueberry bushes in them!
But now you're giving me and idea for more, with a few evergreens, and I've got two of those lanterns indoors that I could move out too.
hate the thought of winter, and too hope that it's not quite as harsh as last one. It's getting quite cold here in the evenings, thoughts of putting on the heating, ugh!
Evergreen are nice but I do love the cycles of the deciduous plants.
These are just beautiful and so vibrant! Love the green set against the blue of the pots!
Happy Sunday to you!
The green plants were always making our eyes more freshly!!
You have so many beautiful plants and greeny in your yard, Zuzana...
I love the blue pottery...so gorgeous!!
Hope you have a fab week ahead!
hugs,
nensa
I love your bright blue pots.
They are beautiful, Zuzana! I hope your winter is milder - and mine too!!! :)
Hugs,
Zuzu
For me the key word in your posting is, “privacy.’ There’s nothing like being cloistered away in my little sanctuary surrounded by nature’s tranquil green fence.
I hope they make it and thrive!
You have a very beautiful garden. I am sure your neighbors will envy you.
I love your pots!! They are so beautiful!
I have ivy in both my back and front patio, and they seem to be loving the rain!! They are green, lush and are growing nicely towards every direction. Though I too lost many of my plants and flowers (the volcano eruption), fortunately, pruning was all they needed. Most are back to normal, and those that are having a hard time are the ones that need plenty of sun, something we seem to be lacking these days. I trust, though, that they will go back to their normal self by the end of the year.
Plants...what would we do without them?!!
have a grat day!
Elizabeth, SueE (welcome), Brian, Tina, Hilary, Janine, Julie, Di, Stevie, Sandy, Regina, Susan, Betsy, Jerry, Sharon, Paul, Jill, sprinkles, Mimi, Cosmo, Betty, Nensa, Nessa, Zuzu, Scribe, Sandy, Rajesh and Claudia – I am so happy to learn that so many of you like my blue pots. They are Vietnamese and very popular in Denmark. Furthermore they can withstand frost, which is very vital at my latitudes.;)
Thank you for your endlessly kind words and compliments, your visits always make my day.
