This week Mr.Summer arrived.
With stunning colours and splendor, warmth and sun - and perfectly on time. As if by a stroke of magic, the first day of this month started with brilliantly blue skies and the sensation of a new season became apparent.
I know it is only temporary, as conditions such as these are rare and the forecasts already predict a change ahead. But I am enjoying this summer preview while it lasts.
Again, both humans, animals and nature love this weather. There is a collective atmosphere of happiness all around, so palpable in the song of the birds, the laughter of people and in the unexpected intensity of colours. The sky is so very blue and the green is so very green. Additionally, a new colour is currently dominating my surroundings.
Magenta.
In every shade, it is the colour of my Rhododendrons. I have three different plants and they all bloom in late May, beginning of June. The warm air has spurred on this bloom and only within the last five days, the bushes went from bud to fully opened flower, giving my views a burst of fuchsia, violet and pink.
When I look out of my kitchen window and see the splendor of this magnificent bloom, I can not help but smile as I recall our arctic winter, just a few months ago. The bush looked so sad and lonely as it stood there, its leaves shrivelled in the deep freeze, a far cry from its magnificent June self.
Once again, nature and the way it is capable of renewing itself, returning back with new stunning beauty every season, never ceases to amaze me.

That's a gorgeous burst of color. We have lots of rhododendrons in our area too. They peek between the trees like teasing dancers flouncing their skirts.
Beautiful mother nature. Enjoy your weekend dear Zuzana!

Rhododendrons! I miss those. We don't have them here in Los Angels but back in New York they were gorgeous.

Beautiful! Rhodies (as we call them) are favorites of mine!
When we lived in Pennsylvania we had many of them and they were so gorgeous. They don't grow well here in Minnesota although I do have a few miniature rhododendrons, they're quite fragile (we've lost a few) and not nearly as amazing as the big blossoms.
That photo collage is just fabulous, Zuzana! Wow!
Your Rhododendrons are gorgeous dearest Zuzana...I would adore them in my garden as well :-)
The weather was awful here this week...starting to get a little better now, I think...I need sunshine!
As I read your post below...the part about aging /the old ladies at the bus stop and than in the grocery store/...uff...I think I need to be really strong to be able to grow old...sometimes I'm not sure I will make it...with this sensitive soul I have /honestly sometimes I think my heart will just "broke" one day before I can get old :-)/...I'm always amazed by the way you see things...
Hope your weekend is beautiful.
Much love: Evi
Magenta is such a soothing color, Zuzana! Wonderful post! :) Enjoy your weekend!!
Your rhododendrons are gorgeous, Zuzana! I love all shades of pink and purple and your collage shows a variety of shades. I think this is one of my favorites of all the ones you've done. Definitely in the top 10!
I FINALLY got a digital camera today and I'm so excited to figure out how to use it! The first picture I post from it will be of my sweet little dogs. Hopefully they'll cooperate with me.
Beuatiful colours and welcome summer!
How lovely and delightful.
Cheers.

Doesn't it just make you want to breathe deeply and absorb it all? I just love summer and your magenta flowers are perfect.
There is nothing better than a sun that's shining, vibrant colours and happy wildlife. Great post :0)
no matter what time of year, you always have a fantastic view. you are right about the noise and laughter this time of year. everyone seems be more happy and outgoing.
The Rhododendrons make quite a display. They are a cheery color. I am so glad you are enjoying the weather. I think maybe, you appreciate it more, because your winter is so extreme.
Have a lovely Sunday.

Your photos are stunning, but I could see your bushes in bloom in my minds eye from your excellent description.
I love nature at its best and worst.

Gotta dig it when nature pulls out the stops and brings back the bright colors. : j
Absolutely breathtaking! You couldn't send some of that summer goodness our way, could you Zuzana? Winter has us in its white knuckled grip down here in the southern hemisphere...
Beautiful color!! When it's summer, the color of choice around here in purple!, as you might remember from my entries at the time. I would love some of your magenta as well; it's simply beautiful. Isn't it refreshing and pretty to be surrounded by so much nature?
Pink NEVER looked SO GOOD!
You have stated it perfectly, Zuzana! It IS the time of magenta(and various shaeds of pink) in my garden, too.
I was just looking at everything in the garden yesterday afternoon and it all looked just right(no summer burn-out or droopiness and everything still fresh)with many of the blooms that vivid magenta hue.
My rhododendron bush blooms are already almost past, but if you go deep in the woods, there are old, old rhododendrons that bloom into nearly July here.
Elizabeth, steveroni (welcome), Jingle, Nessa, Philip, Brian, Mr. Stupid, tony, Julie, Zuzu, Alberto, Joanna, Sandy, Janine, Brenda, Cheryl, Evi, Michael, sprinkles, Keats, Regina (welcome), Hilary, Eternally…, Doreen, Kat, Iowa Gardening Woman (welcome), Lynda (welcome), Stevie, It’s Time…, Alesa, Tony, Claudia, Jill and Tina, thank you so much everyone for your absolutely kind words.
I am glad you enjoyed the magenta coloured bloom that gives ambience to my views right now. I love my Rhododendrons, they are incredible evergreens, that cn withstand anything and come back so strongly every year. In fact I almost gave up on the largest bush last summer, when it seems to have been attacked by a disease. I guess the bitterly cold winter actually helped in this case and the flowers this June are the most magnificent they have ever been.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and for taking the time to stop by.
Xoxo,
Zuzana
