Ornate Details.

A new house is like a new friend.
It takes time to get to know it and its occupants; the different moods, quirkiness, the versatile traits, both negative and positive. It takes time to settle in and although I have lived here for almost six months, I am still establishing new routines and my own place - not just in the new house but also in my new life.

Slowly, I am introducing my touch, so to speak, into an already establish home. Trying not to be too overwhelming and larger than life, remaining respectful and apprehensive, yet still - having a strong desire to have my home reflect the fact that a woman has moved in.
Whether I am succeeding in this endeavor or not is mirrored in the reactions of my new family. I win some and I loose some, as to be expected. The boys are mostly oblivious to my efforts, but the lovely girl senses the changes and has stated in no uncertain terms that her father's house has become much more cosy and delightfully scented since I moved in.
I take that as a sign of success.

Thus this year the Christmas decorations in my home are much more austere than I am used to. Still, the ornate details here and there create an atmosphere of familiarity and celebrate this delightful season in the spirit of love, family and companionship - the very essence of Christmas.

What lovely details and decorations. The Christmas spirit lives in our actions and not in our ornaments (thank goodness as we haven't put up a single decoration yet)!

You already have your place in your new home. The only thing that needs to be done is that your place becomes visible to you so you can see it.

Enjoy your monday.

It is very important for a woman to have her 'touch' in the home she lives and occupies. And every woman desires that. Glad to see your activities, dear Zuzana. The place one occupies becomes synonymous with the woman of the home.

And, I know that when your 'touch' is added, the home will be unique.

Joy always,
Susan

I can relate to this so much. When I moved in to Tom's home 2 1/2 years ago, I would unpack one box of decor at a time, over time. I would mingle in what was important to me. Our decorations seemed to fit together well and neither of us were territorial, so it worked out.
It looks like your lovely things are fitting in just as well as you have. Enjoy making the personal touches in your new home...it can be fun : )

I love that angel in the center there. I collect angels though so of course I noticed it right away.

I'm glad you're adding your own touches. That's as it should be. It's your home too.

Yeah, boys tend not to notice the small details.

I am sure you already won their hearts.:)

I'd say that if the boys are oblivious and the girl is appreciative, you're pretty much won most of them. I'm glad you're comfy in your new digs.

Oh, Zuzana, you have such lovely taste and artistic instincts, I'm sure your efforts will make a charming difference. I am so glad your new girl is enjoying the feminine touches, and believe me, boys are not nearly so oblivious as they sometimes seem. They might not say much, might not even always know exactly why things feel so much cozier and so homey, but they do notice and appreciate them. Merry Christmas to you!

Cozy is important in a home. Accept the young lass as the barometer of the kind changes that you make.

Settling down takes always some time but you are slowly getting there. Where there is love things are easier. And the little girls seem to feel it - The decorations are lovely and bring a warm note.
Stay well.
