My Fireplace.
I woke up to a really cold winter morning; subzero temperatures and frost. It would be a perfect day for curling up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate in front of my fireplace.
When I lived in North Carolina, I lived in a second story apartment with a large fireplace. I LOVED my fireplace. When I moved back to Europe, a fireplace was what I missed the most. Finally, after months, even years of thinking and planning, I had a fireplace built in December last year in my house. It was the best thing I ever did. Even though it was costly, the company I hired did an incredible job. It is almost a piece of art. It took them (2 professionals) no more than 2 days from start to finish. The final product is a fine example of German engineering (Spartherm) and Danish craftmenship. A combined fireplace - steel convection oven, it is a perfect addition in my airy, brick house; warm and very, VERY cosy.

It's lovely! I miss my fireplace, too... there is nothing nicer than a fire on a cold night or a cold, rainy day. Ryan and I are going to be celebrating the solstice on the 21st and we'll light a fire in the pit outside, which is also nice (though a bit chillier :)
Very nice! I feel the same way...gotta have a fireplace.
Hugs,
Donna
Wow, they really did do a beautiful job! It is very artistic and architectural. I love my fireplace even ia I don't use it that often. It mskes a house feel like a home.
Diane, I could not agree more! Fireplace rules. But I like the idea of having a fire outside as well, I am sure that will be magical.:)
Donna, I love your fireplace as well, it is large and so cosy, as is the rest of your lovely house.;)
Holly, thank you, I agree.:) Even though you live n the desert, perhaps it can get cold enough to light the fire occasionally. I am sure growing up in Utah you must have gotten to use it often during your childhood.:)
Oh very nice! I don't have a fireplace in my little townhouse and sure would love one. I think it's one of the most romantic things.. architecturally speaking.
I think I'm envious. That is a very nice fireplace!
Hilary, you must truly miss it living in the north where winters are cold. My house originally had no fireplace as well, so I had one built. I love it and I agree; it is romantic.;)
Thank you so much Keera for your comment.
I am sure being in Norway you must be missing one as well.:)
