Christmas City Lights.

Today is weather vise one of those days I truly dislike. It is rainy and windy. Well, stormy would be a more appropriate term actually.
However yesterday was a wonderful winter day; sunny and calm, no wind to speak off. I took a walk through the city in the early evening to see this year’s decorations. I manged to visit a small Christmas marked as well and finally got to stand next to the enormous Christmas Tree in front of the City Hall, which I drive pass every day to work.
I always enjoy walking through the streets close to Christmas, especially when I do not have to feel the stress of purchases and preparations.

These photos are beautiful! I love seeing cities and towns decked out for the holidays. Ribbons of light above us. Trees sparkling. And even the grumpy Gus's have to admit that it's all beautiful and magical. :)

I know I sound so Grinchy, but I'll admit to loving seeing the lights and decorations. NYC is one of my favorite places at Christmas, for that reason. We're going to take a drive tonight, if it doesn't rain (again) to see some lights near here. There is a man who lives near Ryan's school who starts putting his lights up in October! If he's done it this year, I'll try to get a photo for you.

Oh my gosh! Are those lights in your town? Those lights above the street are gorgeous!

If I don't manage to talk to you before mid-week, Have a very Merry Christmas! It's been a joy seeing what you were going to write about each day and you have even managed to ease my general Bah Humbugness!

Wow! I never saw street lights like that before. Too much rural ground to really appreciate other people's house decorations.

Wow, pretty! I agree, after all the madness of shopping and preparations, it's so nice to be able to actually enjoy the Christmas season.

Cairo, I could not agree with you more! I, just as you, love all the Christmas mayhem. I love the light, the decorations, the music, the spirit and the magic and I would not have it any other way.;)

Diane, I know that deep down you do also like the Holidays.;))
I hope you were able to take that drive you speak off. Look forward to see the photo of the particular house decoration you mention.;)))

Mel, yes, these are in my town. I love seeing the lights every year and every year they are just as magical as the last.
I am happy to hear I have eased the Humbugness of your Holidays a bit!;) And likewise, please have a wonderful Christmas and a wonderful time spend with friends and that wonderful family of yours.;)))

Michele, yes here in Scandinavia due to the lack of natural light in the winter, they try to compensate with lots of artificial light, which I have to say helps a great deal. The worst is the disappointment comes January though, as all the lights are suddenly gone. But until then, it is truly magical.;))

Hazel, I hope you have too had a chance to experience the joy of the Christmas season. Have a wonderful Christmas.;))

Mahmud, you are very welcome, your place is very interesting.;) And I agree, everything aside, the Danes know how to make a whole city magical around Christmas.;))

I love seeing the lights too. When I was a child, living in Montreal, my Dad would drive us around to some of the streets that were particularly dense with Christmas lights. It was so magical and colourful. Seeing a residential street which is heavily laden with lights still gives me a small tug back to childhood.

Your photos are lovely. And so is your new profile photo... beautiful you!

Hilary, what a beautiful memory! Especially to a child, these lights must be enchanting, as they are seen from quite another perspective.;)
Thank you for such a wonderful compliment on the picture; I thought my profile needed some overhaul and a more recent me on it, that actually smiles.;))
Have a truly wonderful Christmas Hilary.;)
