Stillness In Snow.

Crossing into February, the mild winter is history and more seasonal weather has gained hold over Scandinavia. Subzero temperatures, wind and snow.

Luckily, only a light blanket is covering my surroundings. A dry powder of white precipitation that swirls around when picked up by the arctic wind. It makes the snow dance in circles resembling wintery dust devils, driving it into small banks here and there.

Yet, despite the wind gusts, there is a certain stillness while it snows. It is as if everything stops and slows down, conserving energy and bracing itself for the final fury of the Ice Lady.

Note: I apologize for my lack of posts and visits - life has simply been keeping me occupied elsewhere (in a good way). I should however be back to more regular blogging soon.:)

  5. Lovely. There is a certain stillness in snow. We have had only 4 snows or so this year, but I am not complaining. I am ready for spring.

  6. So nice, serene, peaceful. Snow tell us to take it slowly, to relax and enjoy the comfort of our place, the warm atmosphere of family times.
Here it unfortunately stops everything and instead of calm it creates madness, but I always enjoy the first drops!
    Have a beautiful day Zuzana!

  10. Beautiful photos, but I'm glad I'm not in cold, snowy weather.

I'm glad your life is getting in the way of blogging, in a good way. Though I love hearing from you, I love knowing that you're busy living life fully. Enjoy!

  11. OH, good things that pull you away from blog world are GOOD, VERY GOOD.
The photos are lovely. The peace of snow...I actually miss it. We have had the strangest winter here. I am fickle though Zuzana as I do not like LONG, DARK winters!

  13. According to the weathermen our snow is due this weekend in the UK - even though it looks pretty, I'm not sure I welcome it.

  16. Hi Zuzana,

I love how serene and beautiful your photographs are with a dusting of snow.
Here in NZ it is summer, so our seasons are opposite.
Glad that you are busy, in a good way.

    Happy weekend
    Warmest Hugs

  17. Stillness is the right adjective. I think the winter is Mother Earth's way of trying to get us to rest a little. Glad you are enjoying life, me too.

  18. No need to apologize for not blogging. Real life does get in the way sometimes. I know this from experience.

I would hate to be you having to drive in those winters! You have a long ways to go. Glad it's only a little bit of snow there right now. We've had a fairly mild winter so far.

  21. Hi Zuzana! It's Saturday morning and I'm catching up on my favourite blogs after a very busy week, so I can appreciate how hard it is to get time to post.
So, thanks you for posting these gorgeous snow pictures. I love the stillness when it snows, gives me goosebumps just thinking about that.
We've had no snow here this year, and even though I appreciate the absence of coldness, I miss the snow. Would love a day or two of it :(
    Have a lovely, relaxing weekend.

  22. Beautiful photography as usual Z :) Our winter is a mess but it doesn't bother me! I'll take 28 - 38 degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to -20 - 4 degrees Fahrenheit any day! :)

  23. I love your mosaic of photos. The same has happened here, our mild winter has given way to below zero temperatures and it's snowing at the moment. It should look beautiful in the morning.

  24. We're still to warm for this time of year...picking strawberries now is just wreong! BUt we are! Thinking I had so much time, I started up a second blog (One Cat Shy of Crazy) which is where I am reading you from...then RA came in and kicked my derierre...so I haven't visited or written like I should...but today will be a good start, I think. In the meantime, we'll just deal with life, right?
